This is the logic I don’t understand , while it is true that “the average family” will more than likely only buy one, why limit your product ? Why appeal to the largest possible, and often the least sophisticated, audience? In the past Playmobil achieved both with stecks and system X. The basic customer and the eccentric ones could buy one or ten .

With the ever-important caveat that we don't know the sales numbers, the argument would be that the hassle* of assembling a Steck/(particularly) System-X set puts off enough of the 'average' buyers to more than off-set the obsessives.

*to pre-empt people - you might regard inserting 300 System-X connectors at 7am on Christmas morning while a child whinges about their toy not being complete as 'quality time with your child' but many, many people do not

The official pre-release is there: pictures from the trade catalogue have tonight been posted at Klickywelt (log-in required).

The biggest shock of them all: Figures/Mystery Fi?ures series 29 is apparently going to be released in ... boxes. No more easy targeting!

Looking forward to seeing the pictures at a place that won't require a log in.

Nice to see the castle theme finally returning again, curious choice that they bring back the same faction they had before Novelmore, though it's nice that this time only the king wears gold. The castle seems pretty basic though, like a smaller version of the red falcon castle and usually the good guys get the big castle. Not a single soldier with it either, I don't see any accesoires with it that aren't weapons either. Like a table or even a throne.

I think you might have got that wrong, the pictures on page 4 seem to show three different shop display boxes, all containing the usual bagged figures.
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

Supposedly the greatest manufacturer of machines in the world and they couldn’t come up with a simple machine to pre-insert the red and yellow connectors ?

Should of farmed out the manufacturing to China or India , there are plenty of youth willing to work there

I’m not sure what half the Surprise sets are supposed to be

I’m glad they continued the Rally theme, but did they have to go “fantasy” with that as well

I’m sure thankful that the space theme gets missile launchers , I just couldn’t imagine it being a science based theme. Keep them kids fighting each other is the “flavor of the month”

I’m also so grateful someone there is listening and decided to keep making as many sets/animals in pastel colors, love the pink whale, and perhaps next round they can make all the animals the colors of the rainbow
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

They did have sets produced in China, amongst the their 25th anniversary set, a boat and a limited edition Playmobil torch. The move was a failure, especially with the torch as it was very unreliable.

You get what you pay for . It’s not the 3rd party manufacturers fault the hiring company chose the cheapest option. Playmobil management opted for the specifications and they were given the set in the quality they paid for

Similar to all the low quality trucks (5679, 5682, 5665, etc..) that ended up on the US market. China did not demand they were to be made low quality. Playmobil demanded they be made inexpensively

Thanks for sharing this information!

I agree that the castle is not very unique for the new Knights theme, but I think the sets overall are quite nice. I really like the new horse caparisons. Also, while there is quite a lot of printing (including on some helms), it doesn't seem to be overly done on the figures themselves. Many of the torso and leg parts look nice in the chosen colours. I'm also happy to see the troll make a return (and in a nice green colour), and the dragon tower will be an excellent addition to fantasy settings!

The bird costume is an interesting addition to the growing number of animal costumes. It's nice to see the magic carpet return in a new colour as well.

The witch and wizard DuoPack has some really nice parts that I would like to have in those colours. Personally, I'm not very interested in the magical broomsticks though.

It's also nice to see the Easter Egg sets return with more unique eggs.

And, finally, the Series 29 Fi?ures have some excellent parts!

I'd really like to see more details for the ice warrior, especially to see what sort of staff or other weapon he is holding. The skeleton pirate, insectoid alien, and wizard are great as well. I can only imagine that the great success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba led to the inclusion of the figure wearing the kabuki kumadori-like mask.

The fairy queen, witch, head-carrying woman, and devil figures also look to have some great parts, but the female knight (another Jeanne d'Arc) is the most surprising.

I just realised that the orca is back! …… unfortunately in pink ….. (Mermaid theme)

Nevertheless, an odd choice they made, for years it was not available!

It's still not available because orcas aren't pink. You can have albino orcas, they could have done that. I don't think they'd do a mermaid with pink skin so why pink animals?
