MEET HAMISH McANGUS
« on: January 31, 2011, 14:40:30 »
When Karim asked for guests for his Summer Garden Party, I decided that if I was to send someone down to Windsor it should be a Scotsman and his wife.
I have always wanted to make a Scotsman in a kilt using just Playmobil parts + glue and paint.
Until now I haven't really had the chance to spend much time doing this, but the garden party provided the excuse.
I haven't finished his wife yet, but I'm so excited at having finished my Scotsman that I just have to post pictures of him now  :-[

So, here is Lord Hamish McAngus of Barnhourrie - a descendant of the famous jouster and poet Sir Fergus McAngus....

and a few close ups....

The only problem is that I glued his sporran in place, then found he couldn't sit down!  However as the ladies in the large skirts who attend the garden party can't sit down either, he'll be in good company!

Hope you like him.

Oh, Elaine, he is so wonderful  :yippee: I think Playmobil should buy the design from you because I imagine everyone else will want one just like him

He is great Elaine, when I read the name I had a chuckle and you followed it up in style...nice touch.

The details are very wel done and the colour are indeed a great match.

Thanks so much. For some reason I find it EXTREMELY awesome that you managed to link the WJT and the SGP (Summer Garden Party) like this :-)

Thank you Bonnie, Gaston  Jenna  and Gis :thanks:

Gaston, I made the skirt by cutting down a lady's long skirt and cutting down a plain pair of a man's legs and sanding them at the top so they would just fit inside the skirt space.
I then used a plastic repair material called Plastex to fill the gap and hold the legs in place.
It took a lot of tries to get the legs so that they would just hold inside the skirt.
Here is a view of where the legs join (I did apologise to him for looking up his kilt!)
I tried to sand the extra bits down a bit, but I think it still makes him look as though he has knobbly knees!

Gis - I couldn't call him anything else  ;D

Oh I forgot to mention that his kilt is based on a tartan called 'Pride of Scotland'

Stupendous Elaine!
I was thinking of the same way to make him
when I first saw your Scotsman.

I may not make my Kilts like this in future,
But I think you for the tip. :hatoff:
