The game can basically be played without the sets... And the box includes the
game. I can take pictures tonight of the detailled content of the sets...
The game figures are the little fishes and the playmos are just for special events.

As the games instructions are in german just a short translation:
The fishes are on the way to a party at Sandys place. Sandy is this neat starfish.
In clockwise direction the players throw the dice (included in the box as well!)
and move the number of steps... On some fields there are special events...
Namely:
  • - hitting the merman means, you receive the figure. But the merman
    is very communicative and is travelling with you until he meets another of the
    players... As long the merman is with you, you cannot receive help of the
    other inhabitans...
  • - picking up the mermaid. Having the mermaid with you, prevents you
    getting blathered by the merman... But she is only a one-time joker, after
    using her once she is free again for the next player... Of course you will
     lose her, if she is picked up by another player before you used her.
    (like in the real life...  :hmm:  :lol: )
  • -  finally, the ghost... He fears that you are going to steal his treasure, so
    he is chasing you all the way back to the starting field...
So, here the other animals that help you to reach the party...
Sharki Shark is getting you 3 steps ahead, Heinrich, the whale only two.
Hans von Piek, the blowfish, is delighted by your visit but you are afraid
to come to close, which gets you one step ahead... Stefano, the sea horse,
can show you a short-cut, which helps a lot, and finally, you can help
Ottilie, the octopus, to find her glasses. She is very thankful, therefore
you are allowed to throw the dice again...

I didn't tried to play it with my little one, but I expect it to be fun, especially
pepped up with the specials...

@psyche: I have nothing to do with the polar bears, do I ???

Correct on me too Socrates (my 3rd is for Serenity)...and no, you don't have anything to do with polar bears.  Well, not that I know of. ;)

(But do include the prince for those who bought one in the package if possible. I think that's just Meg and I???)

Yes that is right. I just want one of each of the three NORDSEE sets. Well actually I want more than one of each, but one is all this currently unemployed collector can afford!  ;)

To keep it simple why don't I make one payment for all + shipping to Socrates and you guys can pay me? Sound ok?

SocratesOn the prince I think I had two. Don't know about Meg or any of the other Americans (well Red and Serenity are "no"s.)
