when will the new catalog be released? and more
« on: December 28, 2007, 17:29:45 »
Hi, I have 3 questions.

1-regarding the grill set 4649-I bought new. The legs will not stay in the grill. I am going to have to glue it. I am wondering if this is a defect, have others had this problem?

2-the Nun special, bought it NIP. Her hood doesn't stay on well. Is this a defect? The nativity Mary's hoods stay on fine.

3-the 2008 catalog, when does it get released?

And a comment--we got the Forest Lodge for Christmas. 4207. What a disappointment! The base doesn't have any extra holes to make a complete building, so one is forced to have half a building. Its so small, as well.  Nothing like the sets of the past. We did like the tree and the bird nest.

Oh, one more thing! police safe 3161...my son put it together without setting the combination so now we can't open it!  Argghh!!!  Anyone have any tips regarding this situation?  I will have my husband take a look at it but the rest of us can't open it. Maybe we need some Playmobil dynamite!

Thanks so much, Anne in the USA

okay ... let's see ...

1.. I have had two sets of those - one went to my son (and is in pieces) the other one is in my display cabinet. Both set have their legs stay on nicely ... so, I guess you're doing something wrong, there is a defect or geobra has changed something in the production of them. Or all of the above (minus the first option)

2.. There is indeed a problem with the hood. Or rather the cape. Believe it or not, but if you replace the cape with a "normal" black cape of the same type but of another sort of plastic, the hood will stay on much better. Apparently, they changed the plastic for that cape and it forces the hood up a bit and therefore it won't stay on. But that's my experience.

3.. Sorry Anne, I really haven't got a clue.

... and then dusk came and brought despair.

It appears to have 2 dials numbered 0 to 7, for a possible 64 combinations, can't you just try them all? Or is it that since NO combination was set, there is no valid combination?

I'm calling a time out on account of acronym proliferation.

MIB, NIB, NIP, MIMB, MIMP (and presumably: NIMB, NIMP)

Which all more or less translate to: "unopened"

But, seriously, the new 3-D Online catalog hits Playmobil USA around mid-January-ish.  By Feb 1 it will be out for certain because that's when PM USA releases the Feb round of the sets for the new year.

I think the 2008er catalogue will be released at the toy fair in Nürnberg. In the last year we got the catalogue in Germany at this time. I also hope they will have this timing this year  ;D :yup:

I think it is possible to take the safe apart carefully either from the bottom or the back.

Actually an adult (and most kids) should have no trouble breaking the combination. If you pull out on the dial as you turn it you can feel when the door goes loose at that point. Just do that for both and it will be open.

I got the safe open! It wasn't that hard....I just set the top dial at 0, turned the bottom all the way around, then the top at one, etc.....as it turned out 6 and 3 opened it.  Sharing that in case it is a default.
Thanks again!

Glad you got it open without resorting to power tools and cutting torches!
