A friend just sent me a couple shots of an old klicky she found. I thought this one was visually interesting enough to share.

What's that stylized b in a circle to the left of "geobra"?

From 1974 to 1980 there was a stylised white letter"b" on a black background and with a red centre on all the Playmobil packaging. Presumably it stood for Brandstatter Group.

The "b" is for back in the day when playmobil was a "system" the klicky was generic and a child could make a construction worker by day become a knight at night. Now it's all printed with specific roles, unchangable klicky designs and the once building system became modular.

There is an interesting article by Ngorongoro on Klickywelt (here, but you need to be registered on the site to view posts- its free to register however) which describes 5 different versions of the 'early' klickies, depending on the embossing on the feet and the internal skeleton colour. This one looks like Version 3 (internal skeleton the same colour as the torso) or Version 4 (white internal skeleton). Ngorongoro admits the linkage between version numbers and dates of issue is currently unknown, but your friend's figure is probably not from the oldest production runs (and certainly not made in 1974!).

If you are interested in seeing the article, I will ask Ngorongoro if I can reproduce it here on PF (and translate it from the German).

It would be interesting to see that. I can handle some basic German so you wouldn't need to translate it.

It would also be cool to see later versions up to today. They must have made many subtle changes.
