The Wheelbarrow Races
« on: August 05, 2014, 09:55:43 »
Part One - The First Races

'I'm bored,' said Sam, looking back over his shoulder and speaking to Bob.

'Well let's have a wheelbarrow race!' suggested Bob, 'I'll race you around the barrier, and back to here.'

'Ready, Get Set, Go!' said Bob, and Sam sped off ahead of him.

Sam was the first around the barrier.

And he increased his lead as he headed back to their starting place.

An easy victory for Sam!

'You look exhausted,' said Sam to Bob, 'I guess you simply don't have the strength and fitness like me.'

Bob was determined that he could and would be as strong and fit as Sam.  He asked his Foreman if he could take a wheelbarrow home with him.

The Foreman said Yes.

'Why have you brought that wheelbarrow home?' Bob's wife asked him.

'Because I need to use it to increase my strength and fitness,' said Bob, 'I'm going to run round the backyard with it.'

'Be careful you don't give yourself a heart attack,' said Bob's wife.

'I need to show Sam that I am just as strong and fit as him,' said Bob.

And it did seem that Bob was increasing in strength and stamina.

His wife agreed to help him with his fitness regime.

When Bob felt that the time was right, he challenged Sam to another race.

'I've built a proper circuit this time,' he said.

The Foreman was the Starter.

Sam took an early lead.

He kept in the lead for the whole circuit, and won the race.

'This is no real challenge of strength,' said Bob, 'And you only won because you ran so wildly.  If you had had anything in your wheelbarrow, it would have fallen out on the corners.  So I'm going to design a proper course; one that tests both strength and accuracy.  And you will find that I will win that sort of test.'

Yes, my thoughts as well! It seems as though we're getting two or three new photo-stories every day!

Great story so far, some very funny moments! Love seeing the vintage construction klickies in action. :)

Nice story it's good to see the vintage Klickies enjoying a bit of exercise and fun, the faces and posing really help tell the story love the photo of Bob gently laying his wheelbarrow down the pose says it all, and practising with the dog (those old dogs sure are interesting) and with his wife helping, hope he shows Sam that good barrowing combines speed and careful driving I've steered enough barrows full of tools, aggragate etc. to know that and as I say it's a marathon not a sprint so don't use all your energy at once. Anyway look forward to seeing more

Part Two - Bob's New Course

'Right,' said Bob a few days later, 'I've designed the course, so I need to explain it to Sam.'

'In each wheelbarrow is a full bucket of water,' explained Bob, 'And the winner will be the one who finishes the course with the most water remaining in their bucket.'

'Firstly, we weave in and out through the cones,' he said.

'Then we go over the top of the skip.'

'And finally, over the top of the ladders.'

'Then we empty our buckets into these other wheelbarrows, and the Foreman will measure how much water we have retained,' said Bob.

'And the Foreman has kindly provided a crate of drinks as a prize for the winner,' concluded Bob.

'I'll go first,' said Sam.

'This is quite tricky,' said Sam.

'And this is quite hard work!' he said.

'I need to be accurate here.'

'Carefully now...'

'I spilt a bit of water coming over that skip,' said Sam.

'But just the ladders to go over now.'

And Sam finished the course with about half the water remaining.

;D Another great story! That obstacle course looks like so much fun, by the way.

I love how the foreman is encouraging his workers to goof off at the construction site
