What awesome pictures. I especially love the Roman display. Wish I could inspect it up close.
Another thumbs up for Zulu. I learned "Men of Harlech" by heart because of it. I recently saw Zulu Dawn too, it's not as good but still decent.
1) Gladiator (Indeed leefert..!, historically it mimicked the Battle of Teutoburg forest)
This is not possible. The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest was an ambush by Germans of a marching Roman column that resulted in the complete destruction of three legions. The battle at the beginning of Gladiator is a pitched battle between Germans and a Roman army formed up for battle that results in the total defeat of the Germans. Entirely different!
The battle also erroneously depicts siege equipment being used like modern field artillery - very inaccurate.
And finally, the hooting noises the Germans make before the fighting begins are a direct reference by the director Ridley Scott to the Zulu war call heard in the movie Zulu, to which the British respond with "Men of Harlech"!
