
An electric train can be identified by the metal current pickups between the wheels. Just look at the picture of my steam locomotive. This is the same for the diesel locomotive, because it uses the same power unit.
These trains require metal rails and a transformer. I would not recommend a LGB transformer, because the output is a little higher than normal transformers (due to use in gardens).
You need a transformer with direct current (DC) output, with a maximum of 12 volts. In Europe this would be a Fleischmann, Roco, TRIX or Hornby (International) transformer. NEVER USE A MÄRKLIN TRANSFORMER FOR PLAYMOBIL, BECAUSE THIS IS AC !!!
Most new transformers has a manual, which explains how to connect the transformer to the rails.
