on age ranges

Have you bought online lately? I just did and after I finalized the sale an age panel popped up:

It maxes out at 12 and up, it seems playmobil.us does not regard the adult collector as a significant market!

Pleases me to tell the "helpful clerks" that come about asking us when we we're buying stuff if HE has that one - yes, WE do.

Actually, annoys the Tartarus out of me that they assume it's for a male child.  >:(

Haha yes shop clerks keep asking me if I want the Playmobil I buy to be gift wrapped.
They must think I have hugely spoiled children at home

About the age ranges: maybe it's a good thing that they're actually asking the customer about these tings. Hopefully reality will prove some of those boy/girl marketing strategies wrong...
On the other hand, it just plays into the mindset of girl versus boy toys. Hmmm. I don't like it.

Yup the OLDER than 12 is my standard answer but how many times do I have to do that survey?

I'm 48, 6 feet, 200 pounds, have a big beard and tattoos, and when the shop clerks ask me if I want the pink fairy boat I've just bought gift wrapped, I mostly just answer "no, I'm going to eat it right away"...Works great. ;D

I just found this survey this year. I used to answer such things with wrong answers. 2 year old girl bought roman troops, 3 year old boy bought mermaids ........type of answers. Nnow I have just been going for boy 12 up.

Hmm, shop owners see me comming and really do not know what to think. Usually they treat me how I look and that is like a homeless unusually happy bum in a big truck. Today I went to a shop and the owner would not even come down out of her office as the Clark would not take me seriously. I went in to clear out some older inventory they have. Its in a very upscale town. I have got to quit shopping while on the jobs but those semi older pink boxes are just sitting there.

I wonder If we could ask for a new category through the pcc?

It would be nice if they had "13-18" and "adult collector" as options, but maybe if they get enough "older than 12" answers, they will rethink their survey questions and marketing.

Wow, that cracked me up!

So did that, y'all made my morning.

Chris and I don't get that all that often. I think we're such big kids it doesn't surprise anyone that the toys are for us. Especially if they watch us on the aisle debating who gets to spend how much and making sure we both spend the same amount so that it's fair.

Anyway, I do think it's great that they're taking the survey. Perhaps they will start changing the age ranges they put on their products, or realizing that collectors account for a lot more of their sales than they thought. To me anyone over 12 still playing with them is probably a future collector.

Well it would be quite an accomplishment already if it means they start marketing playmobil from age 3-12 instead of 3-10. As they used to do in the past.

It's already a good step for them.. and I am sure they will now realise that boys and girls shouldnt be seperated that much in sales when they realise castles and pirate ships are bought for girls too, and malls, hotels and such are also bought for boys.
