ETA: Rasputin, here's a summary:
The elder talks about various tests the boys have passed. He names Faithful Bear (the boy with the red feather) as a warrior in the tribe, but he tells Red Cloud (the other boy) that the Manitou wants him to undergo another test: to win the heart of a girl, specifically the chief’s daughter. Red Cloud asks for a different test and is turned down.
Faithful Bear tells Red Cloud that gold attracts both bandits and girls.
[I had a hard time understanding the accent of the miner with the beard, but I think this is right.] He doesn’t want to mine for the rest of his life and plans to open his own factory/business. The other miner asks where he plans to get the money. He says it’ll take a long time; he’ll save up.
Looking at the barrel, Faithful Bear explains it’s magic powder that can explode rocks. They fall in the mine. Red Cloud is sure the gold will impress the Chief’s daughter. Faithful Bear is more interested in the “magic powder”. He stays in the mine after Red Cloud has already removed the gold and lights it up and boom!
Faithful Bear: This stuff, it's incredible!
Red Cloud asks why Wild Feather (the girl) is the daughter of their chief. Faithful Bear tells him to be courageous. Red Cloud tells the chief he has a gift for his daughter. The chief tells him to get to it. Wild Feather is initially excited, until Red Cloud tells her that she is as pretty as the gold nugget.
Wild Feather: You say I’m as pretty as this rock? You are crazy!
Faithful Bear: She has the character of her father, Courageous Eagle. Let’s go to Plan B.
Red Cloud doesn’t think the bandits look very accommodating, but Faithful Bear says they’ll obey thanks to the gold nugget.
The bandits laugh at the approaching boys, then ask for a reason to not shoot. Red Cloud presents the gold and offers a 2nd nugget if they follow his plan.
Bandit Leader: Prepare a royal feast to welcome our new friends!
The plan is for the bandits to surround Wild Feather and for Red Cloud to chase them off and “rescue” her. However, the Calvary shows up before Red Cloud gets there.
The soldier explains that Wild Feather has entered into US territory illegally, and they arrest her.
Red Cloud: If they touch a single hair of Wild Feather, I’ll… I’ll…
Faithful Bear: …Courageous Eagle will not sponsor/support us.
Red Cloud asks what Faithful Bear is going to do with the magic powder. Faithful Bear asks the same about the beaver.
The soldiers catch Red Cloud and tell him to put the tomahawk down. Faithful Bear circles the fort, and the soldiers think they are surrounded and head to the balustrade. The soldier at the cannon complains that it is too dark; the other tells him to fire; he asks on whom. Red Cloud puts the flag up. The soldier in the tower plays the trumpet; the one guarding him salutes. Red Cloud opens the cell.
Wild Feather: Red Cloud, my savior!
Red Cloud: Wild Feather, don’t be afraid, I’m here!
Wild Feather: But I’m not scared.
Faithful Bear: Geronimo!
And the fort explodes.
Back in camp, the elder tells Red Cloud that he failed to win the heart of Wild Feather.
Wild Feather: Yes, yes, it’s not easy.
Nevertheless, the elder names him a warrior in the tribe. Red Cloud asks how that is possible.
The elder explains that the Manitou summoned him and told him that it was necessary for Red Cloud to become a warrior quickly before he committed more stupid mistakes.
