HELLO AGAIN FROM THE TROPICS
« on: September 09, 2006, 13:45:26 »
Hello again everyone ...

It's that time of year when, once again, I change avatar costumes ...  ::)

I've left my Mountie uniform in Canada, as I'm now back in the tropics.

So ... for now, I've donned my King Richard armour which was designed by Cap'n Henry!

As you can imagine, this is a very warm costume for the balmy breezes of Fort Lauderdale and the Virgin Islands. Perhaps, something a bit cooler would be nice ... ;)

Is anyone interested in helping me out with some ideas ... ???

As you can see from the photo, I look just like my avatar ... :)

Please post any ideas and pictures in this thread!

Thank you and all the best,
Richard

:D What a great idea! Discussing it here and having the possibility to make my own contribution to it for sure makes it much easier to add another figure to my PF avatar collection right from the beginning ;D

I for sure will do some suggestions, already executed or in case I haven't necessary parts in place just the idea.

It's really amazing: although I have never then a photo from you, it really looks like how my imaginare picture of you which I got from your avatar ...

Update:
Ok, here my first suggestion. I went to Google and had a look for some Fort Lauderdale pictures. I got two generalized impression: Palms and people in light clothings (shirts, short trousers, beach shoes). You need a little imaginary for this first try: project a blue sky with palms in the background, sand on the floor (maybe this should not be visible in the avatar itself but we can crop this). Shirt variant 1 is the one you actually see with the palm on it. Variant 2 would be the same blue shirt but with an imprint of the Fort Lauderdale city seal as depicted beneath -- blue shade of the seal would be the same as the shirt itself (I would make produce a decals for this).

Update 2:
Variant for the legs could be: not using this kind of short trousers but the new type from the new pirate special (4654). I would paint the orange socks into flesh color (i.e. naked legs) and the shoes in white sailing shoes. Color of trousers could be arbitrary (this is also valid for the white ones depicted).

Second idea:

as I've seen on the real-life photo that you're wearing a checked shirt I've got this second idea.
The short sleeves do not match exactly the base color of the body/shirt but this can be adapted.  The trousers shown need also some imaginary (because those have been the only one of this type which I could find quickly in my spare parts box): I was more thinking about the jeans from the strand lady of 3660 with the turn-ups. Feets are either naked or with strand shoes.
The head shows an alternative: because it's quite sunny and warm in Fort Lauderdale it seems to me always wise to protect the head. I've the impression that in the U.S. those baseball caps are quite widespread thruout the whole population, no matter what age, sex, or race. The color is also just an example because this was the only one which I found quickly without an imprint; BTW the color does not fit for my personal taste well because it has a quite similiar shade w.r.t. the hair color; something more distinguishing would be better ... maybe  ???

Hello, Jochen ...

You are a genius my friend.

Susan (my wife) thinks that your first avatar (in shorts without a hat) looks just like me ... :)

I always wear shorts and sandals (or low boots) even when I'm in Canada.

The only time I wear a hat is when I'm in an open auto or in a boat. The rest of the time I am bare headed.

I had been thinking about a military or pirate costume, so that I could use the new avatar here at PF and also over at GW-PC. However, I really like what you have done. You have captured the real me ...

Thanks for the great suggestions !!!

All the best,
Richard

Hello, Jochen ...

Thank you for the paise  :-[

What about different T-shirts for the same figure (I mean different imprints)? Maybe the Palm/Seal for PF and a pirate motive for GW?

Jochen

Thanks for your response, Tim. Any ideas? Jochen has come up with a really good one, but I would really like to see some more before I make a final decision.
