Ironwomen in training-1
« on: November 17, 2011, 03:51:23 »
Training began today in Raleigh for the 2012 Ironman Triathlon in Panama City, FL. Three local Ironwomen (One, Two and Three) decided to conquer a part of the Great Wall in their first hike of the season after seeing how gorgeous the fallen leaves looked on this hot fall day.

They began their session after a long talk and stretching session on the Great Pumpkin. From there they headed north up the Great Wall pushing their mascot, Trainer their cat, in her own buggy for extra conditioning and because pets are not allowed on this trail. Here they are at the start of their workout....

After two decades of male toys (esp. Lego and PM) in our house, it is time to build something for us women!

They really got into the stretching part because it felt good in the hot weather, and they knew what was up ahead along the Great Wall having scouted out their route two weeks ago.

Eventually they managed to stand up and get with it before the strong blasts of hot wind blew them off the Great Wall or buried them in the blowing leaves.

Trainer prefers begin pushed and was trying to nudge them back to life after they almost fell asleep while stretching with their heads down. She was nudging them to get up and get moving so she could ride along the Great Wall like the princess she is.

They quickly gained altitude up the steep wall and made good time along their route in order to beat the tornado watch that arrived during their hike.

Once out on the trail, it is hard for true Ironwomen in training to stop for heavy weather warnings because they are so intently focused on their workout.

Parts of the trail were blocked by sheer walls of rock and huge chasms that had to be hiked around or somehow crossed, which was miraculously done with Trainer in her carriage.

The Ironwomen are used to terrain as steep and challenging as the Real Great Wall, and have trained before on even worse trails in the tropical jungles of Micronesia. So today's high winds and blizzards of monster leaves swirling around their heads could not stop these solidly built gals.

(Part 2 to follow manana/tomorrow!)

Great story utilizing the 123 series figures! Well done, Pbill.
Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!

Thanks for the positive comments, folks!
It was a lot of fun moving 1, 2, and 3 and Trainer in the carriage around our front yard in a howling windstorm. They kept blowing over and sliding off pumpkins, but finally finished the course!  See details in Part 2......
