Good morning dear Friends

Being a collector of the Victorian Theme discontinued years ago by Playmobil, I have very rare opportunities to start a topic with regards to a new Playmobil item  ;)

But I would like to salute Playmobil for re releasing first the Playmobil Park Fence and now the Playmobil Oldtimer Car

Since the Victorian theme got discontinued, these two items have been some of the most sought after on Ebay and beyond, sometimes reaching silly prices such as £300 + which in my view created an "unhealthy" speculation around the theme.

I do not know if Playmobil's initiative to re release these two items is the result of the Brand listening directly or indirectly to Collectors or simply to put a end to certain Ebay out of control practices on discontinued items which still bear their name ?

But I would like to salute these gestures towards Collectors and other customers alike and simply say : "Thank You Playmobil" !

Karim :)

I agree it's been a great development.
I know the car is a direct result of the collectors. It's one of the ones the Pilot Group requested last year when Playmobil asked for input about the DS catalog.

:yup: maybe this is some of the work we can do for geobra.
:!: in your words, karim, i think an idea can be put forward - our wishes mixed with some data from ebay.
:) if we give geobra some examples on how much an old vintage set (or some figures from him) can cost on ebay - reflecting a high demand and a low offer - it would be easier to defend our wishes.
;) this could also be a way to make ourselves more "rational" in our wishes and requests.

an example from the pirate theme (the only one i actually know) - old string to complete a damaged rigging in a 3550 / 3750 is something i would love re-released through ds.
but, throughout the years i could only found very little sales of these items on ebay and none of them reached very high values.
... but a crew of sailors identical to the 3740 marine schooner - http://www.playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30 00 4000 - complete with his hat and ribbon is something i know that can go very high on ebay and also something all pirate them collectors would love (either to "improve" their exhisting crew or to man other sets and thus turning them into a royal navy ship).

??? the trouble would be to register the actual deal price for a set on ebay.
there's no way to re-"visit" auctions that have ended and i guess none of us has the time (or the mood) to follow multiple items and keep a .jpeg record of all of them after their auctions finish.

Lego had rereleased several well known old sets in 2001, sadly they never did it again afterwards. Considering the high demand that is just silly.

Sure would be nice if playmobil would rerelease more sets than the two vintage sets they released at the last anniversary.
Which where nice, but I would really like to see them rerelease things from the early nineties.
