Great looking layout. Do you add all the cars, buildings, accessories and Klickies to your outdoor layouts or do you just keep track and trains outside?

PS: exposing roots like that is not a good idea, but then it is in the way of playmobil fun  :P
I did not see all the roots (under the »jungle«), so I hoped to have some, but not so many.
We cutted 2 roots (in the middle) at Saturday and then I will fill up the area again with sand, soil and gravel and with »Mähfix Rasenkanten« (~»Mähfix« lawn edge plates) for the track to be stable.

When the tracks lie in the garden, they will be fixed with some screws (and filled up with gravel for better appearance and with a wood glue and water mixture for better cleaning the rails of leaves, branches, seeds, etc.) and they will stay out all year.
Then I will add buildings, which I will put in the cellar in winter, also the turntable (the top), maybe the roundhouse (we will check it out).
The power system (control central, booster, etc.), the trains, accessories & klickies we will not leave outside. Unfortunately, these things have to be carried into the house after (each) driving.

I've built something more...

A layer of soil around the roots and otherwise sand

A layer of gravel
The gravel, that you see here is not the final vision gravel between the tracks. It is there to align the plates under the rails.

The temporary track layout
(it still lacks the aligned plates below)

The layout has been adjusted slightly so that no roots were crossed and that the last two tracks (left in plan) are closer together.
Gravel and plate base for the roundhouse and the turntable

This is great!  I love how you compliment the spaces and shape of your yard so you have a large layout yet it will not take over your yard and will be on the periphery of it!

Hi zugpferdchen,

very impressive layout, but

Do you believe that the old carpet is a good solution?
I would expect that the carpet will act as sponge if it rains. The rain will not go directly into the earth.

And a wet carpet is perfect for all kind of small growing plants like grass and moss.

regards
schluss
