The chronicles of Mittland Part 03 Time of the wolves

Finally they achieved the goal of their rough travel. They stopped in an enormous underground hall. The walls around them were so high, that no one could recognize the cover. Two large flames donated a little light, but it was not sufficient, in order to illuminate the entire area.

In the center of the hall four further dwarves expected them. One of them was Deman YA, the highest pit master of the dwarves. He prevailed for more than one hundred years already over his people. Up to the outbreak of the Great War  the contact between dwarves and humans had quite run meagerly, but in mutual attention and peacefully. Afterwards only few dwarves had left the Drachental, and no human had seen a dwarf since the dragon wars outside of the mines.

ARN knew that Deman YA as a young man had fought side by side with GRANDOR, the sorcerer, and the White Queen against the Dark Federation. Together with the kings and the knights of the six human realms it succeeded to them to smash the Dark Federation. Afterwards the sorcerer had left the human realms, and Deman YA had returned to the Drachental. 

[Vauban]

„I greet you, ARN wolf man.“ Deman YA's voice was a deep bass. Those, which heard his voice for the first time, said of it that it was as deep as the deepest ravine of the Himmliche Massiv. Arn and Lilian bowed themselves before the highest pit master.

For a short moment long the dwarves and the humans were silent, then ARN began to speak. „ARTRAC is going to war against the Mountain Realm, and we could strengthen our armed forces by the nomads and the forest people. Now I please you, join also our alliance. With your forces we will able to refer ARTRAC into his frontiers.“

[Vauban]

Deman YA vibrated sadly the head. „The Underground Realm is counting only a few heads. Our wives give only rarely birth to children. The people of the dwarves is dieing out. The four members of the council and I are the last of our species, who still are able to swear the great magic. But we are old. Our bodies can't withstand the load by the magic any longer.“ As ARN wanted to answer, the highest pit master heaved up the arm and ordered him to be silent. 

[Vauban]

„Nevertheless the pit masters' council conferred for a long time after your last attendance, how our people could support your battle. So far ARTRAC left us in peace, because he was still afraid of our magic forces. But now the dragon awoke again, and it is serving him. Now he doesn't have to be afraid of our forces any longer.“

Chapter XII.

A messenger brought the message to JURAS that the rebels had taken or had destroyed all catapults and cannons. Together with the riders from the Mountain Realm the warriors pushed back ARTRAC's troops. They were supported by the long trunks, which swept like an gale the dragon soldiers of their legs. The victory of the rebels came more near and more near.
