Ah, nice to see the Circus theme getting around
If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

I must admit the sets are really cool, some of the best I've seen in a long.

Haven't posted here in a while, but we've made a few purchases last few days. Our TRU is having a moving sale, with four ailes of playmo at 20% off. ;D So far we've bought: http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=4234%0D%0A4237%0D%0A4345%0D%0A5884%0D%0A5885%0D%0A4265

A few weeks ago, Chris and I were at Tuesday Morning buying a bunch of playmo, and the cashier told us about a mom and pop toystore downtown that carries playmobil where she used to buy it for her kids. Well, today we went to check it out. I had never been to this store before, but it is the most charming little privately owned store, a converted house, with something new to look at everywhere you turn. They had so much stuff you don't see at regular toy stores, like painted tin toys, that kind of stuff. We asked the lady at the counter if they carried playmobil, and she told us very sadly that they don't anymore. She went on to tell us how much they always loved playmobil, but since target and tru started carrying it, they just can't compete price-wise. We told her about how we collect playmobil and described how much of it we have at home, and that if we'd known they were there, we would have come earlier. Anyway, she said they did have one set left somewhere, which we eventually found. It was this set: http://playmodb.org/setpics/4258.jpg which I have wanted for a long time, and I got it for 27.99!   I absolutely LOVE it! It's even better than I thought it would be! Anyhow, we ended up leaving our name and number with the woman, and if she finds anything else in storage upstairs she has promised to call us. :)

Yes, that's really a good find, the carriage is very nice and the drivers have beautifull uniforms (excellent for soldier-customs  ;) !
Actually it is sad that all these smaller stores, where one often could find rare sets, are or already have dissappeared or stopped carrying Playmo. It's the same story here in Belgium, now almost only the superbig toyshops (rather markets) remain... :-\

Resistance is futile, you will be boarded!

Yes, I thought it was very sad. :( This store seems to be doing very well, located near the garden district and a lot of newer downtown developments, and seeming to be viewed as rather upscale. I sort of had to wonder if after her conversation with us, she may consider re-negotiating with playmobil. she has our number to let us know if she does. In fact, when our money is freed up some we may go and talk her into doing what another local retailer offered to do, but they closed down before we had a chance. What was explained to us is that in order to start carrying a certain company's product, they must make an initial investment of a certain minimum amount set by that company. What they said was, they would look to see how much that amount is for playmobil, but suppose their set amount is $200, if we were interested in buying $150 worth of playmobil, we could tell them what it is we want them to get on their initial order, and when they get it in we buy the $150 worth we wanted, and now they have met their minimum without having to stick their necks out investing too much in a product before they know how well it will do. of course, there's not much in it for us except the satisfaction of seeing local retailers stocking playmo.

Thats an interesting plan, Bonnie.

I observed that there are so few privately owned little toys shops around here too... a couple o department stores carrying too much playmobil have made them reduce their orders... but then again, playmobil is a toy that sell so much... no more old sets in any toys shop... unless I am the cause...

Yep! I really love them, actually! Though i am going to customize the merman.... he is designed to look like Neptune, but neptune was never depicted as a merman that I know of... he was in human form and his clamshell chariot was driven by regular horses, not seahorses, because in addition to being god of the sea, he was god of horses.... anyhow, I'm going to turn him into a regular merman. LOVE the seahorse carriage! It's so much fun!
