The Samurai..Shintaro Akikusa
« on: April 18, 2011, 01:48:16 »
(Extracted from Wikipedia)
The Samurai is a Japanese historical fiction television series during the early 1960s. It was the first Japanese TV program ever screened in Australia and became a cult favourite, sparking the first wave of ninja-mania outside of Japan. More people (over 7,000, many of them in costumes :P) turned out to greet Ose Koichi, the star, when he arrived at Essendon Airport in Melbourne than greeted The Beatles!  :D

shintaro akikusa, posing as a ronin (masterless, roving samurai) working undercover for his younger brother, the 11th Tokugawa shogun, to eliminate plots by rival feudal lords aided by his faithful ninja sidekick, Tombei (the Mist)
...should I make another not-historically correct custom?  :-[

thanks guys  ;D

and yes, Giorginetto, in the beginning, many refused the use of guns introduced by the westerners (just like the Chinese Boxers uprising against the western forces in Peking, circa 1900)

oh how I envy your youth WoT  ;D

..I still remember these TV series vividly, they came on every wednesday night, in black & white of course, and my tuition teacher had to come only on wednesday nights so I never really got to watch a complete show...in those days, parents are strict if youre wondering why i didnt protest or demanded for a change of tuition nights or invented the VCR myself....oops did i hear your just ask "what's a VCR?"  ....so maybe I'll join you searching for their youTube movies   :P

...but 'Ran' or 'Seven Samurai' is more realistic to watch...and best of all, the colourful Duel at Ganryu Island between Musashi vs. Kojiro...watch it and you'll beg for more  ;)

Well I am young, but my childhood was spent with VCRs Cheng. ;)
DVDs are still fairly new, at least in our family.
And we still have VCR movies that we can play. :)

I will check for those movies as well. ;D

Excellent custom again

I've never heard of the tv show I must try and find it. I love Samurai & kung fu movies.  When I was a kid my favourite shows were The Water Margin & Monkey!
Improvise, adapt, overcome ..... If all else fails FAKE IT!

thanks Playmofriends!
Emma J, just watch the last duel at Ganryu Island (there are 2 or 3 versions, watch the one with 3 tapes, this being the last) and it'll leave you wishing more more (but there was never any sequel)  :)
