To be honest, painting the tartan wasn't as difficut as I thought it would be. I painted the kilt blue first, then using a very fine brush I added purple stripes down and across, then just kept addding green, white and lilac lines until it looked as though some lines went under others and gave the general impression of tartan.
Emma, I'm planning on adding some tartan to his wife's dress, but haven't finished yet.
Andy - I described how it was made earlier by using a lady's skirt cut down - I don't think there are skirts in the Roman series are there?
