Tai-ko (big war drums) for samurai army
« on: January 25, 2011, 00:46:04 »
War Drums (Tai-ko) were also used in feudal Japan to motivate troops, set marching pace (usually six paces per beat of the drum) and call out orders (eg. nine sets of five beats to summon an ally to battle, nine sets of three beats, sped up three or four times is the call to advance and pursue an enemy etc according to Wikipedia).  :)

oooops...getting carried away again, this is Playmofriends not Gardenwargaming  :P

Hi cheng,  yet more wonderful customs (this one with the drum and the detail of the drummer with his sweat band and bald head is especially so) and thank you, too, for the interesting information.

thanks everyone!

....What did you use/how did you do the drum?

(I presume you're asking about the part under the Native American drum skin)
its just a temporary wooden barrel sprayed from a PVC cup(for mouth wash/eye rinse)...while looking for a suitable PM part...

(the large bucket suspended by a pulley from PM knightcastles is a wee bit too big...but rather than have the drum tapering on one end, a beer keg/water barrel that has taper on both side would be more suitable...and I've to buy another drum skin for the other end and add a drum support/stabiliser...in reality, these could just be stakes driven into the ground  ;D anybody knows of a more suitable PM barrel?)
