Well... I haven't
To tell you the truth this last one looks better because it is all the same color. So I think what I don't really like is the combination of grey red and blue in 5738...it is really awefull to me...so far only you like it  0)

I think the blue top battlements give the towers an indication of importance...you know, an important landmark or site is here...so its more important that the rest of the castle/city because this is the entrance  ;)
I could give it another colour and put two red dragon on top of them as a show of extra power...

I really like this dark grey colour when it is all the same. I never knew what set these parts were from, until I see the box in your pic ;)

Damo :)

Yes maybe if they did produce the gate towers in dark blue it might be better...

I've seen both of those sets before, I dont particularly like the color of the blue on the battlements may be just because of how light it is compared to the rest of the tower. But you do have a point with it being a landmark.

Fortifications were sometimes painted, usually with lime wash.  St Agatha's Tower at Gdira Bay in Malta is an example:

I guess you are right Clong! I am wondering how the dark blue round tower will look like if I add the light blue battlement on it... hmmm...

Thanks for this input Gordon! Had forgotten about that...
Our city land mark, the White Tower is painted white...but it was not always like that... In the Ottoman period it was painted red because the authorities wanted to signify that it was a prison... the red was said to be the blood of the prisoners dying under torture...

nice!

Just wondering...was color blue used? Red and pink were easy and normal (even here in argentina) as blood was used for it (at least here).
But were there blue fortifications?
