New projects!
« on: October 10, 2010, 10:03:39 »
Im working now in two tems. One for the IIWW and the other about romans...

The left first figure is a infantery german soldier (only the chest), and the other is a roman legionary with a leather lorica (There were many leather armors, not only on iron like Playmobil shows )...
The test stickers are made on simply paper, when they will be printed on vinyl the colors will be more powerfull!

... And now the back view, and a Roman soldier from the Constantine´s Army  ;D

Very interesting custom figures, bendalator ! I do need to warn you in regards to the WWII figure in progress, that it will not be allowed to be posted when finished due to the strict rules put forth by Playmobil to not allow their products to have any Nazi affiliation to be seen for public view.
Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!

I prefer the edited version with just the Roman...
The stickers are going to be like hell to apply! Do you a cutting plotter or do you cou them all with scissors? Can the arms still move whith this additional thickness?
Like you, I would have loved Romans with leather armors, great idea!

Thanks for sharing!

Cheers,
Arnaud.

Though they can't legally forbid the customisation of a figure into a nazi, it's obvious why a German brand wouldn't want that kind of publicity. They do ask firmly that this theme (WW2) should not be dealt with. Same for religion. I remember the "clicky Bible" some German guy made a few years ago. He had bent the arms of a clicky to crucify it. Playmobil had his blogsite closed for showing religious association with the brand and figures that had been heat-bent.

Just found a link! PM me if you want it. I wouldn't show it here...

There is a similar dilema posed in the revitalized popularity of the 80's cartoon series TRansformers, in which the original BumbleBee Autobot character was a Volkwagen Bettle.  Because Volkswagon did not want their car used or associated as a warring machine robot, BumbleBee was changed from being a Volkwagon to the current Chevy Camero for the new Transformers Movies for the same reason.

Interesting how German companies (esp toy companies) would opt to keep their toys free from the stigma of war that most likely will pervade through generations to come.

Oh, and WOW, nice customs, btw!  Very talented!  I like the roman esp!
Ahoy, Pirates, Hoist the Colours!

Arnaud, I see your point about the Nazi symbols and the asociation between Germany and the wars. It is just weird to me that there are not a "modern war theme". Without any kind of symbols. There are themes and warriors of any other era, except the modern one. That's what I meant. But I see your point. Thanx.
I have seen the crucifiction and I was not bother by the religious subject but by the bended parts. I hate playmos with bended arms and legs. It is just not natural.!!
