Good morning dear Friends

Just like my previous quest for the perfect fountain for the Grand Gardens of Regent St, I have been searching high and low for an old fashioned ice cream machine and finally found it....in Texas

As the next chapter will be about the preparation of a Royal Tea Party with every imaginable sweet delights, here is a picture of Mrs Applepie and her Friends welcoming their new ice cream machine on Regent St !

Good morning dear Friends

As you know, the original decor of my diorama Summer Garden Party on Regent St was badly damaged following an unfortunate stockage next to to a stone wall and the humidity resulting of a wet winter and spring  :'(

These décors included the main st as well as the gardens.

Thanksfully, all my Playmo figures, accessories, plants, miniature foods and elevated terrace were stocked in a different room and are safe and well

It is therefore on a blank canvas that I am about to write the third chapter of this project which I invite you to follow the progress of my work through this Making Of in which I will regularly update you with the references and prices of the materials I will use.

With the enlargement of my Victorian Mansion, I must wait for the final dimension of the house itself to order what I call my "preparation board" upon which Regent St will bome back to life again. My original "preparation board" measured 1.5 meter x 2 meters and the new one will obviously be larger as I wish a larger main street and above all more space for the gardens which will include water features used mainly for their reflection effect in the pictures of this chapter supposed to be happening in the early evening. I will inform you of the final dimension of the "preparation board" as soon as it will be cut  ;)

So this is quite a jolly amount of work in the pipeline but I could not possibly be happier to be working on my favorite hobby again and share with you my work .

I have kept all the references of the materials I used for the original decor so this Making Of should be much faster than the original...

As you can see, no blank page dilmemma here as I know exactly what I want to achieve, just wish me tons of courage and lots and lots of imagination  :)

Good afternoon dear Friends

I will start this new 2013 Making Of with a new found as far as the Regent St main road pavement is concerned  ;)

I have used until now a printed paper sheet with a pavement effect which was quite convincing but was obviously lacking of texture and I have just received a great plastic embossed sheet with a grey brick effect, originally for covering the outside walls of a dollshouse but which should be perfect for my textured pavement effect on the road in front of the Mansion :

It comes as one plastic embossed sheet measuring 390mm x 260mm and costs 5.00 Euros per sheet.

I have used plastic embossed tiles effect sheets for my Victorian kitchen for years and love its reflection effect that should bring depth to the pictures when photographying figures or vehicles  ;)

For the Mansion Gardens alleys, I am still going for a red brick printed sheet which under certain lighting as a nice terracotta effect to it  :)

It comes in sheets measuring 299mm x 410mm and costs 5.00 Euros for 3 sheets.

As the box hedges, lawn, topiaries and water feature will add a lot of textures and perspective to the décors of the gardens a flat printed sheet is enough to add a touch of colour in the dominant shades of greens  ;)

I have always made a point of presenting a real background in the shape of oil painting reproduction. The methods of a painting reproduction have evolved immensely in recent years, the technic of high quality giclée on canvas is offering the quality and visual effect of a real oil painting at a fraction of the cost  ;)

The background used for the day times scènes of the chapters one and two and certainly the beginning of the 3rd chapter is :

"River Valley" by Marten Ryckaert

It measures 355mm x 558mm and costs around 25.00 Euros.

I have worked with this reproduction for years and the colours are as vivid and stable as for day one  :)

If there is one material I would never consider doing without when creating the flooring of room whether it is a kitchen, a bathroom or even a lounge, it is the plastic embossed tiles sheet which comes in three colours options :

White & Pink

White & Blue

White & Black

The sheets are measuring 280mm x 415mm and the cost is about 5.90 Euros per sheet.

Those who know scènes of my victorian kitchen know the wonderful effect of this flooring both in real life and on pictures  :)
