Some pictures...
« on: January 18, 2006, 03:03:48 »
Hello everyone,

I took some pictures a few days ago of the Playmo Fire Department in action. One is of ventilation on the roof of a structure, and the other is of salvage and overhaul after a garage fire.

As always, very well done.

As an uniformed  person, why would you want to ventilate a fire?
Wouldnt that allow more oxygen in to fuel the fire?

Nice setup, Ben. And even still smoke comes out of the roof. Very cool  8-)
Done quite realistic with the burnt-out walls and the wet pavement.

Do you put out the fire actually with the klicky equipment or are those falme marks just for decoration?

Great photos, Ben.  You always have such great realistic detail in them, both little points and big ones.  The smoky atmosphere in the first one really captures what it''s like after a fire, while the second one reall has that desolate feeling you get in a burnt out building.  I can smell again the revolting smell of damp, charred wood when it gets under your finger nails!

Hello  Ben  :)

:wow: :wow: :wow: Amazing, truly amazing. You certainly have this style of picture down to a fine art. The way you create your pictures using real fire is something i have allways dreamed of doing myself. I am really looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Kindest Regards  Tim  :)9

Hi Ben,

Very nice !!! I've seen your work before and as always it looks very realistic. It's because of this and e.g. Little Jo's work that I start to like the 'Today's Themes'.
Keep on doing this  :)9

Regards,

DD.

Hey everyone,

Thank you very much for all the comments.  ;D

Little Joe - Yes, sometimes I do use playmobil stuff to knock down some fire.  >:D I have fire hydrants made out of copper pipe connected to the garden hose, it can put out a lot of water at times.

Meg - Ventilation is used to let smoke and heat exit the structure so it's easier to see and move inside. Some departments do this some don't. In the picture, they're cutting a trench cut, which is used to stop fire from spreading to the rest of the structure.

Ever curious, how does the trench cut prevent the fire from spreading?
