Water
« on: May 19, 2010, 15:16:00 »
For our Zoo project we are also planning to make an aquarium. as well as use the Dolphin Basin from 4468. However I am wondering if anyone has a good way to make realistic water.

Using real water is not an option because it's hard to fic things in it. I was hoping someone here would be able to nudge me in the right direction.

Thanks for listening :-)

There were photos of a zoo layout at one of the big shows that had an aquarium that was very well done, I will try to find it but someone else may remember it. It may have been over at macguyver's site.

Thanks for your reply Gepetto.

At Playmobil Planet there was also a big aquarium and even a pool big enough to hold the whale. It looked very nice and I took lots of pictures however. I still have no idea how the water was actually made :-)

Do you have an address for macguyver's site?

OMG on Mcgayver's site! The Dolphin is amazing. What a shame I have to leave for work in a few minutes and they have just banned all non work related internet use  :-[

 hello gis and welcome.
:hmm: if i undestood you right you might be looking for a "solid" water where your playmo-animals could be "trapped".
;) maybe a resin is what you are looking for - http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-cast-embedments-clear-polyesther-resin-151509/
:) i hope i could be of some help.
8} just a warning - i have no idea if polyester resin and the plastic that playmobil uses are chemically compatible.
;) without a chemical engineering phd maybe the only way to know is to try it...

Thanx for the link Gepetto, it's the same aquarium that was on display at Playmobil Planet. I really liked it a lot and want to make something similar. Here is me hoping DS is able to help me out with some of the parts I need.

WK: I am not sure but I thiink that the Aquarium is from the Hengel family and not Macgayver's

Cachalote: Yeah it was something like that that I am looking for. now that I got some ideas it's time to start working on things. Thanks a lot for the suggestion.
