Suit of armour?
« on: April 30, 2010, 14:09:10 »
Was there a suit of armor besides the one in the 3449?  I can't seem to find one anywhere else but seem to recall a picture I saw once of...perhaps a treasure room?  I'm not sure.  I am going through a large lot purchase and came across this guy.  I thought he was a regular knight until I opened his visor.  I'm not sure who was more surprised!

This may be a custom using parts from the 4528 Robot Special.

The suit of armor is a very popular item with collectors, and I have no idea why Playmobil continually fail to reproduce it.

I don't think it's that robot...the eyes and mouth aren't red.  They match the silver of the face, though they are molded not painted.  The inside of his head matches, as well.  Here's a closeup of the face...

Ah, looks like it was the DS set. I hope they bring that one back someday.

In a computer game called Oblivion I used to have a mod that allowed you to buy mannikins, and put armor on them from your inventory. It was great fun assembling the correct full set and lining them up.

I'd love to have a set of mannikins to display the various designs of Playmobil armor created over the years.

Thanks, everyone!  Pingo, I looked and looked through DB and just didn't see it.  Thanks for your sharp eyes.  I'll get Heather the details and a klickie picture so she can add it.
I also found this thread:

In the add-on catalog (about midway down in the thread), it looks like the 7104 is shiny.  Do you suppose DS produces different versions?

I thought they stopped producing chrome plated parts a long time ago :hmm:! There was some discussion in a thread a while back that discussed the new Alaskan Adventure sets SUV having a very shiny rear cargo plate that ended up being the dull grey like your suit of armor :(. I think that the display pictures aren't exactly like the actual production items sometimes :-\.
Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!
