Well, actually, original DS sets in original sealed plastic bags in fact are new and original ::).
There is a thin (moral?) line to advertise them as being "rare", though...  :hmm:

I think, this is why it is cool to have a collectors forum like playmofriends.
Here you get to know, whenever a former "rare" set is rereleased in DS or new set and is about to flood the market. Sometimes when I sold sets at eBay they ended in surprisingly high prices, typically offered by foreign bidders. It still might be worth this price for them, or hard to get in other countries.

I remember the medival goody special sets from greece to ascent to nasty prices at german ebay, even though these were simple give-aways from a fast food restaurant. ;)

That's what collecting is all about. You have to know your sets and find your bargains...  8}

best,
socrates

P.S.: Hope, I hit your point?!  ???

Alexi the sets from DS are indeed baged. some might be in boxes yes, but only the more recent and discontinued ones.
I agree with socrates. A seller on ebay might put a logical starting price/bit on one such item. But if the buyer, especially a foreign one, needs this set desperately and offer a lot more than the starting bid the itme will get moe expensive...

i remember that seller too who sold the klickys from a fast food restaurant in very high prices.the buyers think that the item is original ,that's why they bid so high although the seller should mention that it  is from ds as socrates said is how moral is the seller  where can we refer to to buy ds?

 in the ds come the klickys from the seventies with the not movable hands?

The item is original.  Socrates is questioning the description "rare. What is common in one country may be rare in another, but eBay sellers may use the word "rare" just to try and increase interest in the item and, as Socrates says this is morally questionable.  Bidders should try to check whether the item is rare or not, but in the end, it is the bidders who decide the final selling price.

Klickies from DS are the modern style with movable hands, even where they are reproductions of early figures.

If the original figures had "flat" pants, then the DS re-issue has "flat" pants, and similarly with other designs of trousers.

You're going to have to explain or illustrate better what you are talking about. Both figures you put links to have the same leg style. The second has clip-on boot cuffs, but underneath the same leg style.

I don't see a problem with people selling off DS items as new if they are new. Caveat Emptor in all eBay cases. If the seller isn't saying it's an original set bought many years ago, don't assume it is.

For collectors who want rare figures and sets, Fast food special sets can be very "rare". Most of us here are collecting not for rarety but for the love of the object itself. If you have two beautiful matching vases and smash one, has the other one somehow become more beautiful and desireable?
