Here there be pirates....
« on: March 26, 2010, 19:52:53 »
Its nice to have a day off.... It can turn out to be a productive one if you are into playmobil...
I made these guys today and I am planing on a diorama the next few days... Mind you, althought they are mixed up, most of them are captains and their first mates...

Very nice collection of custom pirates! I'm not a collector of pirates now, but as a child I spent many hours with my groups of (fixed hand) Schaper pirates, navy and redcoat figures -- happy times!

I particularly like the group of 'first mates'.

Cheers,

AndrewL

My favorite is in the first group, second from the left.

I like to create a personality for my custom klickies! So let me tell you a bit about him....

This guy is first mate to the captain first from the left. He must be dressed like his captain. He does not like that, but he cannot do otherwise less he'll be fed to the sharks. The captain needs him because he is good and popular with the crew, always keeps them happy and takes their mind off mutiny with great speeches, rum and other worldly pleasures... Athought the captain does not like him being popular, he must tolerate him in order to control his crew. But, he forces him to dress up like he does so that the crew have a picture of a ''captain'' keeping them satisfied. You will ask me, so why does the first mate tolerate it? Because he loves to keep more share from the loot that the crew is supposed to get....

Very cool back story Wolf Knight! :)
I would do that too...
But I switch them around to much to really keep a background story for all of them.
Thanks for the info.

Don’t worry about that, pirates were (and still are) uniformly ununiform, and if they happened to capture a ship full of nice dress coats and took a liking to them, well then all of a sudden they fancy themselves a bunch of aristocrats and dress the part. Until someone decides to hold a mock trial, that is, and the “defendant” forgets he’s playing and starts throwing grenades at everyone…
If I’m jealous, you did SOMETHING right. Keep it up. :D
