Hello everybody.
« on: February 17, 2010, 18:43:03 »
 :) Hi all.  New to Playmobil and new to posting on boards.

I've gotten involved in this because I can see the tremendous potential for fun and learning that Playmobil offers young children.  Also, I'm getting slightly obsessed with the stuff as I learn more and more about it. 8}

The main motivation for being here though is to learn about how to get the best deals on Playmobil, how to renovate and repair second hand items and generally to increase my 4 yr old sons opportunities for accessing this truly wonderful range of toys.

We have one local retailer who stocks quite a bit of Playmobil.  However we try our best to get hold of bargains of the internet.  We have fallen foul of a few scoundrels that have sold us broken goods on eBay without having first disclosed any damage or missing parts.  We are learning though :-\

I have looked through the forum a bit already and some of the things Ive seen are spectacular.  I dont think we will ever excel at Playmobil like some of the forum members here but we intend to give our son a start with it and hope that he manages to learn through the toy whilst having a great deal of fun.

No doubt I'll be seeing some of you around the board.  Probably in the part dedicated to repair and restoration! :(

That's all for now  :wave:

Welcome from the South Eastern USA, mobildad! We hope we can assist you & your son in this new excursion involving Playmobil! The internet is a valuable source for finding exotic rare Playmobil items from around the world, but as you've already witnessed, caution needs to be practiced in these types of transactions!
  Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!

Welcome Mobildad from the US West Coast!

I find that if the eBay seller doesn't show all the parts, they're generally trying to hide the fact that parts are broken/missing. You can still get  a bargain, but may need to order replacement parts if they are still available.

cheers,  Martin

Greetings Mobil-Dad

I started collecting for my then one son and one on the way. We now have 3 and loads of Playmobil. We love buying used lots of toys from classified adds or auction sites. You have a fun road ahead of yourself with your son. We all would love to help you out with any questions you may have as combined we know more about Playmobil than Playmobil  :lol:

Hello mobildad and welcome from the Great Pacific Northwest! Any special themes of interest or are you a generalist? If we knew where you were it would help us to supply you with regional information on sources and sales but welcome and make yourself comfortable. :wave:
