Hello from Houston, TX! Newbie needing help!
« on: January 02, 2010, 17:45:20 »
Just wanted to say hello to everyone.  I have been a Playmobil fan since age 6 or 7 with the arrival of what I believe was a 3050 Pirate Ship during the mid 1980's.  The 3550 was the model for outside the US right?

Anyway, I have bought a few items off of ebay lately in an attempt to restore my original Pirate ship to all of its glory.  I have a bunch of extra pieces but I am still in need of a few items as well.  My plan is actually to restore my pirate ship and have one extra for my kids to play with some day.  Anyway... I will get organized and post a list of the items I still need in the appropriate section of this forum.

In the meantime... any resources you can point me to would be greatly appreciated!  Any big pirate fans/collectors on the site?  Any advice for finding pirate stuff?  Any parts lists anywhere?  I found one at the http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3050 site.

Thanks for the help and support in advance!  Looking forward to having it all back together!

Welcome to Playmofriends from the UK.     Parts for the early pirate ships were available within the last few years still and I may have some part numbers somwhere, but I can't promise.  I'll have a look and see.

I've got the plans for the 3750 pirate ship which I think was a later reissue of the 3050/3550.  I'll email you them later this weekend.

Welcome Rinercl!

Cachalote is our resident pirate expert, though many of us collect the Pirate theme too.

My in-laws live in Friendswood, so I have some familiarity Houston. If you're just trying to restore your old ship, you can still get most parts direct from Playmobil, but the parts service in the US is unreliable. You might have better luck getting someone in Europe to order the parts for you and ship them over.

Playmodb's parts listing is the best, you shouldn't need to look further.

Keep an eye on eBay for parts or a second ship you can cannibalise to get yours up to spec. Also check Craigslist, if you're lucky sometimes whole batches of Playmo appear there, and your area might be quite active.

Good luck in your project!

Hi Rinercl!

Welcome to PlaymoFriends and thanks for introducing yourself! :)

Good luck with restoring your pirate ship! That's a good idea to have one for yourself and one for the kids. Makes it less painful if the one being played with happens to lose a few pieces. ;)

Hi Rinercl

Welcome to PlaymoFriends. You will definitely find lots of pirate fans in here. I have a good sized fleet but it is not my main theme. I would agree that Cachalote is an invaluable member when it comes to knowledge of that theme . Enjoy you time
