PF Username Origins
« on: November 06, 2009, 08:59:45 »
The story behind Pingo's username got me wondering about the stories behind everyone else's usernames that are not their real names (I assume that Bill Blackhurst's real name is Bill Blackhurst and Richard's real name is Richard).  I think it would be interesting to find out.  I'll start.

My first Klicky was a Roman.  In fact, it was the Roman theme that got me interested in Playmobil.  Wanting to use a Latinesque name for my PF identity to honor the theme that got me started (besides not having any other themes at that time for my avatar), I took "Klicky" and turned it into "Klickus."  The second name was a little harder.  Originally, I mulled over the name "Playus" (using the first part of Playmobil, of course), but "Klickus Playus" lacked a certain rhythm.  "Playmous" looked too much like "playmouse," so I immediately rejected that.  I considered "Mobilus" (using the second part of Playmobil) and was almost about to use that, but it still didn't quite roll off the tongue the way I wanted.  I went over the Roman names that I knew.  I've always liked the name of emperor Marcus Aurelius.  Now that name had rhythm.  So I added an "i" to "Mobilus" and voila!  Klickus Mobilius!

But you can call me KM!    ;)

Very interesting topic Klickus Mobilius! You are correct about my user name! My actual name is Bill Blackhurst! My first & last names originate from English descent. William my given name having the meaning of guardian, or protector, which my final avatar reflects my most proud past . My mothers maiden name is Turner that traces back to Scottish descent.

The first alias I ever used on a Playmobil forum was "krystal."
This was because it was around the same time that we had decided to make up fantasy names for ourselves over at playkingdoms - Queen Tahra, Princess Erika, Countess Krystal, etc.

I am still registered with that name in some places around the net, but these days I usually choose my real name when joining a new place (unless it has already been taken).

I didn't know William means guardian or protector.  A very apt name for you indeed!

I noticed your other name of "Krystal" in Just For Klicks and wondered where it came from.

Excellent topic Klickus

Very simple explanation for me as up to Feb 09' when I was invited to Playmofriends by Indianna - Anne  - I had been collecting and customizing the Victorian Theme for years for my pleasure but without knowing there was a such a vibrant Playmo Community out there. I very naturally decided on Playmovictorian which is by all means not very original but describes quite well what my hobby is about...

So we have a second "Martin" in PF now!

When I first saw you on Twitter, I wondered if you were the dancing klicky Martin that is with us here in PF, Frankena. By the way, is Frankena Italian? It doesn't sound much like originally English. (I have Italian surname, myself.)

---

I use my real name in Playmofriends, and I use "Gus" in the CatForum.com. In other places, I use the name of a Roman klicky character, Paruus (Parvus, -i), which is, in itself, a variation of another character's name that still doesn't have a klicky, but someday will! :) (I hope ...)

Parvus means little, and it can mean mediocre ... It's the middle name of my Roman guy.

I have an e-mail for Godfrey, the klicky I'm currently using as "avatar", but I never used him as an alias. (That's the klicky that goes with me everywhere :P )

These are the stories I have ;D
