Another new member from the Netherlands.

Hello fellow playmobil lovers!

I've been reading this board for a while and thougth it was time to join.

I am a 38 year old dad (3 daughters) from the Netherlands. The first playmobil set I owned was the 3202 construction truck. I remember my dad brought it home as a gift for my brother and me. Offcourse I still have it along with other vintage playmobil. I am trying to sort out the old stuff sometime this winter.

Since my childhood there has been a long gap in playmobil interest. However with three kids in the house there was no escaping anymore. A few years ago I came back to playmobil when I was shopping for a present for one of the kids. In the toystore was a huge pile of Viking Longboats on sale and man, I could not resist. It's still one of my favorite's.

My daugthers like the more girlie themes (hospital, school, ferries, etc.). I however really like the romans, vikings, egyptians, pirates, waterworld, knights, etc.. I am kind of disapointed there is no western theme anymore (apart from some DS-items).

I hope to get to know more about playmobil sets on this forum and will try to give my own controbutions as well.

Welcome, Moose, from Northern California, USA!   :wave:  It's good to have you with us!

I also like the Romans, Egyptians, and knights.  Sadly, I missed the Vikings.   :(  I would love to have a longboat!

I'm a pretty big fan of the Western sets too, although I never managed to get them all because I started collecting after the really cool sets such as the water tower were already retired. There's a chance the theme will get a revival one day, especially as Geobra have all the molds already in place. After all, there was that 30th Anniversary set not so long ago.

I didn't think many children were into the circus these days, but just look what happened there. ;) Maybe if Hollywood make a few blockbuster cowboy movies, it will help get kids interested in western stuff again.

I bought a Viking longboat too when it was on the new on the shelves here in London, though I didn't add much to it until I saw the Roman Arena a couple of years ago and couldn't resist it.

Thanks for the quick avatar. I did not have time yet to make my own so this is perfect for now. This one is off course my favorite klicky-animal. I do own the moose sold through DS. Maybe it's time to hunt down the sets were it was included  :D.

Hello Moose and welcome to the group  :wave:

   I think you will find many members who have similar interests in the themes you collect. There are so many greats sets in all those themes and even if you did not start at the right time ( myself included ) there are so many ways to still get those old treasures . I have not been collecting very long and we were able to put together some neat dioramas. It can actually be kind of fun searching independent shops or used market places looking for that "must have set" on your list . Like an adventure of sorts.  I sometimes find it more exciting and appreciate the set more than just going to a store and having it waiting for me to just buy .
