Hi Playmofriends

Lady Luck knocked at my door tonight...no I won't give you her stats  >:D, but I can tell you that for the second time I hit the jackpot with a rarity from the Victorian Theme...

The Oldtimer Truck 5640 won at £36.15 !!! If I was not sitting on my chair, I would just fall over   ...

I was just about to turn my PC off when I saw the listing and I put a bid up to £45.00 not believing a second I had a chance...

I did just that 2 years ago for the Old Timer Car which I won for an unbelievable £21.00  :o!!!

Hourrah !!! Hourrah !!! Hourrah !!!

Karim ;)

Bonjour Playmofriends

First and foremost, I would like to say how happy I am that our Friend Gepetto  is back amongst us as I have missed him a lot !!!

His encouraging words and comments have meant a lot to me and other Playmofriends so here is to Gep - I am enjoying a glass of Shiraz at 01.00am  :-[ !!!

Now, my Friends, I went to B&Q today and had a piece of plywood cut for me to the following dimensions : 100cm large x 150cm long which I have put in the living room and one of my mansions proudly stands on it.

Those who remember my comments a bout a project involving a busy Victorian St - which got postponed until now - will be happy to know that I am working on landscaping as well as rooms dioramas and the result should be interesting :yup:...

I have one chair on each sides of the "table" : one to access the inside and one for the outside .

Needless to say that I am so much looking forward to the week-end to start putting things into perspective and the Mansion of its "land" already looks somewhat different...

More to come soon

Karim ;)

Hi Playmofriends

The first parcels arrived today and I cannot wait for Friday evening to finally immerse myself in this new diorama...

As I said before, my greatest concern is to render both seasons as well as possible - Autumn kitchen scene + Winter Christmas park / mansion scene - and I am thinking of covering existing playmo trees with Autumn colored "reindeer moss" imported from Norway.

The model moss is familiar to me as I used a lot of it when I was much younger building a model railway with landscape but finding it in an orange colour was very difficult...until now...

The "snow" has not arrived yet and will consist of realistic adhesive sheets for the grounds and a sprinkle version to add that special frosty touch to the scenery...

Karim ;)

Just before heading to bed as I have an early start tomorrow morning, here is a picture to give you a general idea of the perpective that I wish to give to the Christmas Winter scene park / mansion - sorry for the average quality of the picture but its a quick shot before sleepy time  :-[

Two more pictures of the perspective of my future winter scene for you...

This is a really big house indeed :yup:...

Karim ;)

PS : my shopping is mostly done and I am very pleased that it costed a little bit more than the Park Fence at its current value on Ebay. I was not prepared to put that much money in one single item alone as it is outrageously overpriced :yup:

Well Karim that is quite the portfolio! I have been busy making my own little album of your creations (I sure do like that windmill diorama) to peruse in my quiet time.

Congratulations on your scoring that old truck! I have tried several times to get one but they usually get out of reach so quickly it seems hopeless, good to know that it is still possible (4 months with no purchases, such self-control).

I thank you for your kind words and wish to thank you for bringing us along on your journey to create another of your fabulous set pieces, I really like the looks of your stone gate and fountain and will anxiously await your next installment.

Dear Gepetto

As always, you have made my day  ;)!!!

It is 00.45 and I just came back from work, poured myself a glass of wine and I am just about to open a few parcels from my latest Ebay shopping spree delivered today...

During my lunchbreak, I just could not resist ordering the Oldtimer 4083 Karstadt on Ebay.de ( Germany ) where I purchase most of my Victorian stuff as it is not only much cheaper than anywhere else and one can also find rarities at time.

I know the Oldtimer 4083 is not one of them and its price never exceeds 45.00 pounds, but it is a nice addition to my collection and it was on offer at 29.90 Euros with 8.50 shipping to the UK  :o!!! How could I possibly resist  :yup:?

By the way Gepetto, this item is still very affordable there and although I know this is not the original Oldtimer Truck, it is still a nice one and I would be delighted to purchase one and have it sent to you as I know that Ebay.com ( USA ) is so overpriced when it comes to the Victorian Theme.

Here is my new baby which will proudly give the change to the other Oldtimer Truck in my busy Victorian Christmas Street scene...

This item was released to celebrate Germany's oldest and most famous Department Store "Rudolph Karstadt in Berlin"

It all began in the Mecklenburg city of Wismar. On 14 May 1881, the trained retail dealer Rudolph Karstadt opened his first shop. The "Clothing manufacture and retail shop Karstadt" consisted only of a truck load of products and the entrepreneurial courage of its founder. At that time Rudolph Karstadt had no idea that he was laying the foundation for the probably most successful career in German retail.

The young entrepreneur pursued a business model which was revolutionary for its time. Instead of the then common act of bargaining, Rudolph Karstadt introduced fixed but low prices and cash payment. This enabled him to make precise calculations. With the help of these guaranteed steady revenues the shrewd businessman from a Hanseatic town managed to get attractive purchasing terms from his suppliers. Only three years later Karstadt could open its first branch in Lübeck.

Thank you Karim, that is a very generous offer but I think for now I need to be careful of 'crossing themes', the Egyptians have just arrived and I have an army to build (albeit a small one) if I should advance to a 'Lawrence of Arabia' theme I may change my mind!

Thanks again.

Hi Karim, :wow:
so sorry only just found this tread. I very jealous of the oldtimer truck definitely a bargin, sorry I missed it. I did see one for sale the other day but it had a broken front wing and as I cant fix these things myself I didn't bother bidding.

I love the house gates they look really good. Are you thinking of selling the lot, house, street, truck together in one go?
I'll also have to have a look for the advent calendar as I'd like the Christmas organ.

Have you thought of a solution to the snow problem? ??? Did you want some thing permanent or just temporary? You can gets sheets of filter wool that's a bit stiffer than cotton wool which might look good as a snow floor. It can be pulled apart into thin layers, and you can cut holes in it and it will keep it's shape.

I'm looking forward to seeing your sets, Em.
Improvise, adapt, overcome ..... If all else fails FAKE IT!
