Hello All

Well I was just doing a google search on my fathers name, Norman Brown and Playmobil and low and behold up came playmofriends!!!

So here I am - my name is Dawn Brown, and currently residing in Newport, South Wales.  I am proud to be the daughter of Norman Brown, who was head of sales for Louis Marx who originally had the franchise for playpeople off Horst Brandstatter, and then dad, and Mr Miles Fletcher both set up Playmobil UK Ltd back in 1980.

I had a fantastic childhood - helping my dad and his collegues build up the display units, going round the factory to see the figures being made and watching my father sell a product he knew so well and loved.

Sadly my dad passed away in 2005 but I am still and always will be very proud of him, to find a forum like this and to see the joy of people still enjoying playmobil gives me a warmth in my heart that my dad and Miles touched so many starting the Playmobil dream!!!

Keep it going guys!

Dawn

A very heartfelt welcome Dawn from the Great Pacific Northwest!! It is good to have someone who shared so much of the early history of Playmobil/Marx with us.

I think many of us would love to hear stories or see photos you wouldn't mind sharing with us of your father and his early work with Playmobil/Marx but in any event welcome!

Dear Dawn,

I am so sorry for your loss, it is so hard to loose your parents.  I am glad that you have such wonderful memories from your childhood.  I hope my grandchildren will remember me with love and many happy memories of putting playmobil together with their G-ma.

It was very nice to hear from you.

Hi Dawniebird,

great to have you on board!
It seems to me you've had a wonderfull youth -  must have been when you grew up surrounded by such a wonderfull toy .

Do you still have a connection with Playmobil?

Hello Dawn!

Welcome to our forum! I'm sure you will enjoy yourself here. :D

I'm sorry to hear that your father has passed on. It sounds like your childhood was a very happy one and as Janice noted, you are blessed to have such special memories to look back on. :)

We will all enjoy getting a small peek at your past and present Playmobil experiences through any photos that you are able to share with us. (Hope your mum doesn't mind you raiding the photo album. ;))

Congratulations on becoming our 200th PlaymoFriend! :confetti: :*)

Welcome Dawn, and lovely to meet you!

I grew up with Marx Playpeople, so I owe a chunk of my childhood happiness to your dad!

I'm still buying Playmobil and enjoying the services of Playmobil UK, so I owe that to your dad too.

Your dad certainly bought a lot of happiness into children's lives!

cheers,  Martin
