mmm - as it's nearly all white ...  ???
could it be meant to be painted or colored on; like the playmobil-colour of old ???
... and then dusk came and brought despair.

That's what I was thinking too, Bogro. :yup:

In the 2nd edition of Playmobil Collector there are some very similar looking sets issued in 2001 and 2004. One of them is also a pirate, but different to the one shown in this topic (see attachment).

Here's the explanation from the book:
Quote
The Color Packages were intended for toy stores. They could be ordered for birthday parties or other celebrations in order to keep the young guests busy. Each package came with color pens and two different kinds of figures.

He might be a Nordsee promotional figure; Playmobil have linked up with the Nordsee chain of fish restaurants in the past and created figures which appear nowhere else. They had three pirate theme figures last year (two pirates and a Spanish soldier) with a mini-game, and the pirate theme seems to tie in with their nautical nature.

Alternately he might be a figure representing a historical personage or theme, like the Knight of Malta figure. I have a couple of these, but they are not made available through the normal channels. There was also that Prince of Somewhere figure they did for a particular museum in Germany.

The Pharoah figure which was similarly packaged for a German Toy Show last year (I forget the exact details) has turned out to be much more common than I expected, and is now available as figure 7382 in the UK, so I'm glad I didn't spend £££s trying to snap him up on evilBay.

I don't think this is intended to be coloured with marker pens, or why would the legs be black?

I know that seems odd but it's still in keeping with the other color-in promos that were issued before. They were not entirely white all over either.

Maybe they didn't want to give the kids too much work to do. ;D

having only the 1st edition, i was completely unaware that these sets existed.  8}
i think you are right sylvia - i think this pirate must be one of the color sets.  :hmm:
now, i am on a quest to get the other one - the one you show on your picture.
i never saw one on ebay, so i guess it won't be easy.
like martin, i am puzzled by this, and i thought the color sets were "dead" long ago - but maybe playmobil had a lot of pens in stock and this was the way to get rid of them.
the dates don´t seem to go with the picture that comes in the leaflet - a 4290 ship would put this set in 2007.  :-\
when i get it i will try to sort this affair out and i will post a picture of it for you.
meanwhile, i will leave you with 2 pictures from 2 other promo-pirates that i have in my data-base - i also don't know nothing about them although the 1st one is no doubt sylvia's pirate.
thank you all for your help.
  :wow:

dear count bogro,
i think this image comes from an item listed on an ebay auction.  :-\
it is more than 1 year old and, if i remember well, all the items listed by the seller had the same background in their pictures - some kind of wallpaper with playmo-drawings on it.  :yup:
that's all i can remember and i don't remember ever seeing playmo-wallpaper on sale (maybe it's a wrapping paper of some sort that the seller used to cover a wall).

he has arrived.
it is confirmed, it's an 2007 made in malta promotional pirate.
inside its plastic bag there is a number printed in the leaflet - 30898282.
does anyone know what these numbers mean?

That sure looks like a part number to me and it is not in THE database (playmodb)!
