Birthday Gold
« on: February 07, 2008, 04:47:15 »
I just wanted to share a surprise edition to my layout...my wife (Liz) has bestowed the 4033 Western Train Set upon me for my birthday. The set was purchased used on Ebay. Fortunately the locomotive and tender are 98% complete, clean and running great. I was also endowed with some new LGB switches and a semaphore signal to help run the trains.

As soon as I get a replacement camera I will be posting pics of the new equipment in my gallery. Man I love birthdays! Does anyone else have the 4033 or comparable set?
What's the point of going, if you can't get there on a train?

Happy birthday!

The 4033 is one of my favorite train sets along with the 4029.  I really like the locomotive it just seems to be sized nicely for the set.

Now you'll have to get another colorado station and change your layout to add more western buildings.  Oh oh...

Sounds like Liz really helped to make your birthday a really GREAT one!

I, too, am very fortunate, as Susan (and our daughters) have given me wonderful additions to my Playmobil collection!

As a mater of fact (in the attached "old" photo"), my Western train (peeking out from behind the Colorado Station) was a birthday present from Jennifer (our younger daughter) many years ago ... :)

Thanks for sharing your GREAT birthday with us, Steve!

All the best,
Richard

I think it's really great that families can share/play/have fun with Playmobil together. It's one of the reasons I have continued to collect.

I don't currently own a Colorado Station...but it would look nice with my new Western Train Set. Maybe I should give that set a second look? Trouble is, I don't know where I would put it!

Don't worry, Steve ...

My new camera is here, and more importantly I have figured out how to use it. I'm attaching a pic here and uploading the rest to my gallery. As you will see, the loco that came with the 4033 set is missing the red dome and the bell. I knew about it before it came, and I think I can replace the bell...we'll see what happens with the red dome situation. You never know what will pop up on ebay.

Great photo, Steve ...

Love your new western loco, however I'm curious about your avatar ...
Do you have a larger picture? Especially of the hat?

All the best,
Richard

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the compliment! My avatar is the engineer that comes with the 4010 RC train set. The figure is #30 00 1772, and his hat is #30 25 8990 (cap with brim). He's definitely one of my favorites.

Hello, Steve ...

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the compliment! My avatar is the engineer that comes with the 4010 RC train set. The figure is #30 00 1772, and his hat is #30 25 8990 (cap with brim). He's definitely one of my favorites.

Thanks for the picture of your avatar. I can see why you chose him. That's a really cool figure. And, because I've always preferred the original Playmobil electric trains, I had never seen him before.

Do you know if that's the only figure that has ever had this hat (in any color)?

Could I impose upon you to take a side view and a top view with your brand new camera? ... :)

It seems that it might be the hat that I've been hoping for. From what I can see, it looks like a good possibility for the late Victorian military hat that was worn by the US Marines and others.

Thanks again and all the best,
Richard
