A most unusual klicky?

I recently acquired this klicky to add to my clown collection, and I'd like to put him forward as perhaps the most unusual klicky ever made.

First off, the sparkly body is not painted, but moulded in sparkly plastic. No other klicky I've ever seen has this. Also, as the sparkles are individual flakes floating in the plastic, no two bodies will be exactly the same. The plastic is transparent to show the sparkles, so if you hold the klicky to the light you can see his skeleton.

Second, the head. There are several clown heads, but only this clown has this particular head style, as far as I know. The crosses over the eyes are not printed but burnt in. Slightly shivery.

Third the overall colour - very unusual, and I've not seen it elsewhere.

Fourthly, the clothing. The hat, cuffs, & collar are rare, and I think the pink shoe pom-poms are unique to this figure. I've not seen the cuff style elsewhere either, but can't swear they're unique.

Fifth and finally, this guy was boxed in June 2007, so there can't be many around that have not been played with before. 20 years after imprisonment, I finally released him to join his clown brethren.

I wouldn't be suprised to find he now has some issues.

He is indeed an unusual looking figure and it's nice to see him in good condition and not hidden behind his sandwich board.

 I don't know of another figure which has a complete glitter body but I do know of one other that had added sparkle And I seem to recall coming across another figure in the circus theme.

I'm sure that when I had the set 3725 Mr Magic a few years ago his female assistant was glittery. The other of course is one of the best Female figures ever produced and that's Molly Brown from the saloon set 3787.

The shoe pom poms have been used in another set a year before this was released but in gold and you can find them on the feet of the officer in set 3795 Harbour guard.

I'm sure I've seen this figure before recently, Martin, but I can't help as to its provenance.

(Personally, I'm not a clown fan, toy or real, and find this one a particularly ghastly version of the species.  Sorry.)

Oh I agree, clowns are ghastly, and I'm facing my clownophobia by collecting them  ;D

Regarding the pom-poms, yes I have the gold pom-poms too, I just meant this is the only time they've appeared in pink as far as I know.

Hey i have that weird looking klicky. I remember when i found him in a lot purchase and he was dressed up to become the Magicians sidekick. You have inspired me to dig him out and re dress him in preparation for the new circus sets coming out here . Thanks

I agree - this would have to be one of the strangest looking figures ever produced. :yup:

While I'm generally a big fan of Playmobil's Circus theme, I'm not so keen on the face that was given to this guy. It's more sinister-looking than any of the other clowns. Someone even compared it to Marilyn Manson on one occasion. :P

I like those knife-throwers. It's interesting to see printing on old-style bodies, I didn't think they did that until the new-style bodies came out, and they sparkly accessories are nice too. Clearly the sparkly theme does well in the circus series.

As for the Marilyn Manson clown, yes, there's definitely a degree of wierdness going on there - not a figure I think children would enjoy. Oddly he was teamed with a fairly normal-looking fat clown with a bucket, chair and guitar.

There was a third white-face clown that Playmobil produced (after this and the Pierrot), and he's also a little scary. He's in Customiser's head count. The red line that runs from cheek to cheek and under the mouth suggests a throwback to the time when clown mouths would actually be physically cut across the cheeks to make the mouth wider. Whether this was done with the clown's permission or not, just the thought of it makes me shudder.  :omg:

I have a cleopatra special with one eye printed more to the right... looks like she is looking at something on the right...

scary...
