Expanding the Amusement Theme
« on: February 23, 2016, 00:19:55 »
I feel like this theme had a lot of potential that just got dropped like a lead balloon.

Can you imagine a carousel?

We've all swooned over wanting a roller coaster

How about Bumper Cars?  Or Bumper Boats?

A flume-type ride?

A teacup ride for the kiddos?

More game booths

An arcade?

A Tilt-o-Whirl?

A Mirror Maze

There's a lot of potential to expand the theme.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one :)

Yes! I've been saying this, too! All awesome ideas, and we definitely need a carousel. Also, I think the giant swans that have already been produced could be used as cars for a boat ride. A crazy house would be cool, too, you know with moving floors and rolling barrels to walk through and stuff. And a better dunking booth than my custom one.

Oh yes, those swans could be adapted to make a ride!

I may try to create a carousel...

I've been toying with ideas for a carousel for several years and never have quite gotten it right. Thing is I like to use mostly PM parts and that makes it challenging. But those new decorated ponies are just the thing for carousel horses. I'm going to have to renew my efforts. I had been thinking of an endangered species carousel, which would still be cool.

Absolutely, I was hoping for an amusement park with a retro look (with a carrousel to use in the Victorian theme aswell).
The booths that came with the Christmas markets would work well with that.

The problem with the carrousel is that I imagine the horses to be in mid-jump rather than standing still on four legs.

A custom made carrousel with unexpected animals would be so cool, bonnie   :D

Pretty much a carousel and roller coaster would be popular items.

Totally agree, they really need to release this theme again with new additions. They seem to have fallen into a pattern of discontinuing themes after 2 to3 years regardless how popular the sets may be. I believe they have said that most of the sales for a theme happen the first year so having them drag on in the catalog isn't as profitable as replacing them with new themes. Hard for collectors to keep up, but good for variety of sets. After carnival we have the water park theme, and then the cruise ship theme after that so I think they have a slot for summer fun that could easily be filled again in a couple of years with a new batch of carnival sets like a carousel.

I think that the water park and cruise ship sets will be big.  I hadn't planned on purchasing the cruise ship, and I still might not, but I'm at least considering it.  I don't really need the water park sets, but I'll probably buy them in hopes that good sales of them make Playmobil look at re-visiting the amusement park and carnival midway.

As there seems to be no interest in a modular building system I don't see them coming up with a modular roller coaster system.
Plenty of other stuff they could do though.
