A few images from the 2015 Oosterhout Playmobil fair
« on: May 16, 2015, 20:01:51 »
We went to a Playmobil fair in Oosterhout (The Netherlands) today, and there were tons of people  :)  In between shopping and squeezing through the crowd, I managed to take a few pictures of the dios I liked especially.

Unfortunately, I didn't meet the people who made these, and I don't know their names. Maybe someone else here does?
There were a few other dios, including a combination of dioramas I'd seen on other occasions, but these two were truly magnificent:

1) A harbour town with some amazing custom made ships and a huge fort (was it made out of styrofoam?):

2) This Marco Polo setting in a Mongolian palace

Breathtaking, well worth the visit

Great, thanks for uploading!  :)
I went to the event last year but now I didn´t have the time... So I missed out seeing live one of the displays which interests me so dearly, and meeting up with the guys. I was asked to participate in the harbourtown/ship-diorama but had to decline ... :wall:

The biggest ship (the 4-master) is the famous"Dolphin" made by "Macgayver" ca. 2006 or 2007 if memory serves me well.
He created it shortly after the "Unicorn", a standard-setting customship back then. The "Dolphin" - also made from assembling 3940-ships together - eclipses the "Unicorn" (which went to me) in size.
Macgayver = Michael, a Belgian from Antwerp who lives in Germany since a few years. "Versailles" is also a creation by him & his girlfriend "Rapunzel" (Lydia). You surely know them? Didn´t you meet them at Oosterhout??

The town with harbour is by Marco, a Dutchman.
The yellow-black 3-master next to the "Dolphin" is probably alsoby Marco, a very recent creation which he had announced for the event. But besides a sneakview he gave I haven´t seen any pics from it yet. First impression is it looks awesome, and comparable to the "Redoutable" I acquired from my Dutch friend Playmoleo. (Did you meet Leo? He was also going to Oosterhout...)

So if you´d have taken more pictures from that yellow-black ship in the display, please upload them.
I believe he other, smaller 3-master is also by Marco but it is an older creation from some years ago.

No idea (at the moment) from who the "Marco Polo"-dio is, it looks superb as well.

Looking forward to more pics!

Very beautifull dioramas, such a shame I couldnt make it.  :(

Thanks for the pictures though, some beautifull ships and I like how they used that non playmobil fort.

I'm also amazed at the way they used part of the system why castle in such an effective way in the marco polo display!

Alas, I didn't take any more pictures  :-\ I'm sure they'll be on Facebook soon, though.

I only met Playmoto & Hes, Ricardo, and Corinne, the lady who bought the Nightwatch figures for me.
The reason is that it was extremely busy. It was difficult to get around, and certainly to talk to people  :)

I did talk to the guy who was making the Marco Polo set-up, but I didn't catch his name. Ingenious use of that system WHY?! castle, indeed. Makes me want to get it some day!

I would love to meet up with you all next year!! Hadoque, Rhalius, Sunflower, maybe we could arrange something  8-)

And leefert, if you're ever able to make a trip to Europe, you're very welcome to join us on one of our trips to a fair.

true, it was very nice (normally i take tons of pics and didn't even thin about it this time  :-[ :-[ )
funny, that's us in the background of that one pic

Hadoque, like i wrote in that other topic, i felt a strange vibe in Oosterhout. I did see Leo and some of the others, but they seemed like a very closed group to me, strangely enough.
On the other hand, Gassy (and the others from KW), the Playmofrens (Claude and Evelyne?) were really friendly as were guys like Jeroen (dio  with the fairground) and some sellers.

LOL Birdie, next time we know where to look for you 2  :P
Maybe it would be interesting to setup a whatsapp group for that?
