I purchased the entire Popstars! theme a couple weeks before Christmas from Amazon.com.  They were having some good Playmobil sales, so I couldn't resist.  I paid $14.99 for the Stage, $12.99 for the Tour Bus, $2.99 for the Keyboarder, and $3.99 for the Band.  Crazy good deals for items from a newer theme!  (The prices have since raised on Amazon, but Playmobil.us has the stage and bus for $14.99 each - which is still outstanding. The other two items are listed at retail price.)

My kids and I made some room in our Playmobil land today, so we decided to open the boxes and set them up!

I know that at least the stage has already been reviewed here, but I'd thought that I'd throw my two cents in as well.

First up is the stage:

Contents spread out before we started assembling:

Here's a photo of everything all set up after assembly.

I have to say that this set is pretty cool.  Especially for the discounted price.  You have the option to play a couple of "built in" tunes or input from your iPod (or whatever).  When you play the built in tunes, there is a button to cycle through the songs.  I expected the sound to be pretty lousy, but I was pleasantly surprised, the sound quality is fine (great for a toy).  You can push a button to make the volume "high" or "low".  Then there is another button for the lights.  Pretty cool!  Then finally, there is a button to just make it all stop.

We aren't really too much into the modern klickies, but these ones seem cool enough.  Sort of cheesy outfits, but it goes with the territory, I guess.  The drum set is awesome, but the seat for the drummer is a bit awkward for him to sit on.  Not a big deal, but he more leans on it than sits on it.

I'm not sure about the play value from a kids perspective.  It might get boring fairly quickly, but as an adult, I really don't "play" with my sets much after first setting them up. So for me, it's great.  A great addition to any diorama  ;D

Next up is the tour bus:

Contents inside the box.  Interestingly, the bus was inside a cardboard sleeve.  I was happy about this as it kept it scratch free.

From the back... There's a cover that lifts up to expose the engine.  A nice touch!

The bus is cool.  No issues with it at all.  It rolls well, the people are easy to get in and out.  Etc.  I love that it goes with the Popstars! theme, but is also generic enough to be used outside of the theme too.

Next up is the band:

The contents dumped out on the carpet:

And then here's the band on center stage:

Not too much to say about the band set since it's so similar the the other pieces.  But I do like that Playmobil gave us an option for a female singer.  Not wild about her outfit, but it's good enough, I guess.

Finally, we have the keyboarder:

And he makes his way up on the stage:

I really like the keyboarder.  He's pretty cool!  I like that he has a "hoody" sweatshirt.  I hadn't seen that before.

All in all, I think the Popstars! theme is pretty cool.  It's not my favorite theme by far, but still a great addition.  (I'm enamored with the Mountain Life set right now.  Too cool!)

Finally, here's a shot of it being integrated into our current Playmoland...

Thanks for the review. I just have the keyboarder so far but it looks to be a good theme. No fans for them yet, they must just be doing sound checks. One of the great things about a concert is that you can use the audience for all sorts of regular klickies that don't get out to play much.

You are so right! I totally forgot to set up an audience.  I'll go with the sound check excuse.  Yeah, that's the ticket  8}

In the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.

Nice review some oft hose sets do look quite good like the stage good that it comes with the drums and microphoone stands plus the bit to plug your MP3 player into keeps your options open for what to do with it and the Klickies which come with thta set and the keyboard player don't look to bad  :). The tour bus also looks good nice that you can actually do a bit of the assembly yourself and thta there's plenty of space in it to seat loads of people altohugh personally I always got the impression tour buses had more living space for beds and a  kitchen and stuff like that plus storage for all the equipment since the bands used them when otu on the road going to gigs this looks more like a bus for the fans.

Exactly. Unfortunately, it's no tourbus at all... Nice, but it's a regular bus.

Thanks, I enjoyed watching the pictures!

I'd love to get such a keyboard one day.

It's a bit disappointing about the bus just being a regular bus, really.

These sets are pretty cool.Have you checked if some of the figures have double faces, for example the figure with blond hair and stars in its clothes looks especially with Justin Bieber in figures 3 which has 2 faces.
