5602 Popstars Stage
« on: September 24, 2013, 00:53:51 »
This set - 5602 Popstars Stage - is the one that I've most been looking forward to since getting back into Playmobil. I would even have paid the extra to get it sent from Europe upon release, so I was thrilled that it was a North American release!

I paid $39.99 from the US Playmobil online store. I've seen it in a US store for $42.99. Playmobil Canada online doesn't have it as I write this, but I have seen it one store for $44.99 Canadian.

I *love* this set!   It turned out to be the perfect size for my particular needs.

The sticker sheet - for my needs, I didn't place the large PMMC one top and center, and I didn't put the one on the base drum:

From the front:

From the side:

From the back.  The back shows the controls - the volume can be loud or quiet. You can play one or both of the pre-programmed songs - or you can plug in you own music device.  I thought the sound quality was just fine, though I don't expect to use that part myself. It also has controls for the lights. The top pair are white strobe lights, the next ones red and orange. They go in time to the music, and are quite fun.

Close up with all the lights on:

The drummer is on a riser, which is great:

He also comes with a stool. The other drum set I have (clowns) didn't have the stool - I'm not sure if previous drum sets had it or not.

All the band members:

The guitar has a stand:

The microphones are a little different from the ones that came with the Figures.

The amps slide together so they can be stacked.

Like I said, I love this set, my major (MAJOR!!!) complaint is that they didn't include a bass guitar, but rather two guitars. GRR! But that might not matter to many people purchasing this set!

Thanks for the review and pics, Salamander... I almost picked this set up when TRU had their last sale on.  Maybe I will next time - it's a cool set but I'm not sure what I'd do with it!  I did get the band 5605 set.  As for the keyboard player 5604, it's priced at almost the same as 5605 so I've left that set on the shelf - so far.  If I do get a 5602, I will have to add in some of the guitarist and singer surprise figures for a big jam session!

Thanks for the review.  I really want this set. I was wishing for awhile a stage like this would be released.  Haven't seen it at TRU.  Probably wait for a sale on the website.
The drumsticks look shorter than the ones that came with the circus set a few years back.  I'm not sure I like them as well.  I like the look of all the klickies except the guy's shirt with the "1" on it.  Just random and weird.  Kinda like the band set with the dude with a "Z" on his shirt.   ???

Thanks for the review..  It does look great, though TINY for my needs ;)  (I see the box is empty. Sigh.)

And I actually think the lights are nice... I want this one too!

Why the drummer has child drumsticks, is indeed a mystery :(    The jazz band had the stool too, I think.

And I agree with el jefe - that guy is completely off there. But that's easy enough to fix, right? ;)

Thanks for the great review. For some reason I had missed the fact they had the speakers with a line in hookup, and the actual lights. It might be possible to convert those other fake lights to LED spots. I think i have that part on a boat somewhere and will take a look at it tonight.

Thanks for the review, this set looks awesome! I'll definitely be getting it. I had also missed that there were actual lights, though I knew about it playing music. My only complaint is the hair on that guy on the far right just doesn't fit with his look, IMO.

That riser that the drummer is up on... is the floor see-through?

No, the riser isn't see through, it's a shiny blue.

I also missed that this set had the flashing lights, so I was very pleasantly surprised!

I agree, the small drumsticks are kind of odd to put with this set.

I also realised it isn't in any of the pictures, but it does come with the cord to plug it into your mp3/ipod player.

Thanks for the review! I'll certainly pick up this set. Good to know that it comes with the cord for the mp3.
