Viking Library Display
« on: July 20, 2013, 22:53:09 »
I was once again asked to put a small Playmobil scene in one of the display cases at our local library.
Last year when I did a Harry Potter scene I had a problem in collecting the display as it was needed for the exhibition, so this year I thought I would use something that is not needed and so it can be collected when the exhibition is over.
So, based on last year's Viking display, this is what my sons and I came up with.

Because this display case opened at each end it was a little easier to access than the one we used last year.  The only problem with this was that the back of the case was covered with a piece of cloth and the photos and posters had to be fastened to that, hence why some may not seem too straight!
Also we had been led to believe that we would be using the smaller display case so I had made the water to fit that.  In the end we just draped the cloth along the back of the case so it didn't look too bad, but had I known we would probably have taken along some rocks to use.

It was difficult to take photos because of the reflection from the glass and the lighting but here are a few from different angles.

It was fun to do and the library staff and everyone who passed by seemed to appreciate it.
Hope it attracts more visitors to the exhibition.  :crossed:

Very cute! Love it! I really would love to do a display in my local library too, I think it would be a lot of fun.

Btw, nice water. ;D

In the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.

This is really well done, Elaine!  Love the interaction between the sea monsters and the Vikings.

Yes, Nessie looks great!

The viking on the boat is very well posed too. And are those two half vikings? :o

I'm guessing the second Nessie must improve the rower's stamina..

I can only agree with the praise given so far, Elaine.  Great publicity for the weekend.

I've been doing final checking of the track layout as I have to make a bit of baseboard.  In addition, I have been setting up buildings and deciding on what vehicles to bring and so on.  And their is still the viaduct to finish and half a hundred other things!

Unfortunately, Diane had a piece break off a tooth this morning (ironically, our dentist was staying with us Friday night and Saturday), so much of tomorrow will be taken up going to the dentist as it's a round trip of 110 miles.  On Tuesday it's my turn as I have to go to the osteopath as I had a small operation on my back 10 days ago and so my back is a bit stiff as a result.  It's only an hour and a half all told, and I can call in at the model train shop to get some extra bits of track, so it's not all time lost.

great setup Elaine. The pictures, it's a problem indeed. Try to turn down the lights in the hall, especially when there is lighting inside the displaycase.

Was in the Maritime Museum in Rotterdam yesterday and made some lovely pics there, There were dark rooms with lighted displays in a special exhibition.
Will show them later.
