Got a great deal on my first Victorian set
« on: May 26, 2013, 06:00:47 »

I found an amazing deal on the TRU / FAO Schwarz exclusive Victorian set today.  A new Toys R Us store opened in my area, and they had a grand opening.  I'm not sure if this was just because of the grand opening, or if it is at all TRU locations but they had the Victorian 5955 for $53.99!  I see that the set is still around $129.99 on the TRU website.

Since this is my first Victorian set it's obviously not my main collecting focus, however it was just too good of a deal to pass up.  I'm really happy that I picked it up.

That is the lowest I think I've heard that set going for.  Just the house would probably be close to fifty dollars on its own. Congrats!  What a deal for that price.   I waited and waited and now they aren't in my area stores anymore.

Does Toysrus in the USA offer sets on eBay?  They do in Canada and the prices are adjusted for in-store discounts and free shipping on even smaller single set purchases.

Great find, Starhorse!

I wonder if anyone else could confirm if this is a local sale price, or if it's store wide?  The price it was marked down from was also lower than the TRU.com website.  I can't remember for sure but I think it was marked at $94.99.

Maybe there was an additional percent off since it's Memorial Day weekend?

Could be.  Probably worth checking out your local TRU if you are interested.  Hopefully it's not just isolated to my local store.
