The Mission! Tales of a wheeler dealer
« on: April 15, 2013, 21:07:03 »
Hi guys,

Although I'm not a big time collector like some of you here (Rasputin, Tahra..just wow!), I do like to try and get my hands on a bit of playmobil now and then. Its part of the game for me to try and acquire a bunch of playmo containing stuff I want for my collection, and then trying to sell off the stuff I don't want to break even on my purchase.

I thought it might be fun to share the progress of one of these little hunts. So hereby, I present you with....my mission! Please note that I'm not able to update as often as I'd like..this is a work in progress and having two young kids means my sorting and cleaning activities are way too limited for my liking, but hey its all about priorities ;) Kids first, then my Playmo addiction.

The story of this bunch of playmo is that I saw someone selling this and it contained Fort Bravo. As a Western collector, I snatched it up, hoping that more goodies would be inside!

So lets kick off with how this particular lot arrived:

Many boxes...and to give away a small secret..I spotted steck inside! But we're not there yet.

Here's what I pulled out so far!

01. Set 3389 from 1978, a Western lady ready for travel!

02. A race motor

03. Set 3552 from 1983, an incomplete (bench is missing) playground set  but still lovely

04. Set 3583 from 1983, a cute pony and cart set with kiddies!

So far for the smaller sets..for now. I did notice that although there is much playmo in this lot, a lot of items have gone missing over the years..

Now lets get serious.. I had spotted a big platform of course, but I am not well acquainted with the late 90's playmobil that is not Western related so I was curious to see what it actually was...

I was truly amazed I got this set in this lot..100% complete. Yes, 100% complete, including all little details that get lost so easily..behold!

05. Set 3799 Pirate Island!! As in Wow!!!

So far for now...I hope you guys enjoy this!

/K

Wonderful sets!!! I like very much the Western lady and the pirate island.
The base of the island is very big and you can't put it in a box, I have it in a bag too!!
Many thanks for the pictures, I can't wait to see what else you have there!!!

George.

Thanks for the positive feedback! I have gone through the lot again tonight and this is gonna be fun!

Alright - its monkey time!

06. Set 3496 - Monkeys!
A lovely complet set of monkeys on two rocks! Cute!

Next up, a bit of an incomplete set but its one I've never come across so far.

07. Set 3224 Field Hospital
I need to go through some loose parts again to see if I missed anything, seems like there is some cups and a klicky that I haven't found yet (or are just missing) and some of the medical equipment is missing too. I will have to come back to this to see if I can find the missing parts... I hope they're there!

Its frustrating to see 90% of a set present..and then not being able to find that last piece. That surely goes for this western set that is missing just ONE PART! One of the Indians' shields is missing. Really missing, I searched long and hard :( If anyone has it....let me know! :)

08. Set 3732 Dancing Indians

Sticking with the Western theme, there was a version of the 3278 Horse and Wagon. Its not 100% complete, the thing to hold the barrel is missing and a gun, but hopefully I can salvage those parts from my bucket of spares.

09. Set 3278 Horses and Wagon and Family

Right...we're getting near the end of the lot...there is still the Fort Bravo that needs to be sorted and searched to see if it is complete. That will be another day.
However..I did tell you that there was some Steck in there as well..... ;)

Are you ready for it? Because finding not one but two sets and both in superb condition..well that just blew my socks off!

Here goes!

First of..I found the 3446 Castle in there! Its 99,99% complete! Just one door handle and the big door bar keeping the main gate shut are missing. (Although I might have spotted that big door bar in the Fort Bravo box...not sure if I saw one or two of them there.. Have a look and let me know what you think!

10. Set 3446 Castle

Is that it? Noooo I said not one but two sets! And this was just wow! 100% complete and in new-state condition! I have no idea if its rare but building it up was just a pleasure in itself. When I finished the build, I couldn't stop looking at it and admiring the design!

I present...

Set 3448 The Krone Inn (1994 version I think)

With that, there's just a few more things that I can positively ID as sets in this lot. Fort Bravo of course...and a little bit more of Pirating is to be done. Hopefully I'll be able to share that soon!

In the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.

Pictures never do the Playmobil steck medieval buildings justice.  Like you said, you admire it.  Congrats!

I do not see how you will be able to sell off the stecks castle parts and the tudor houses. They are just so beautifully to have sitting around the house with a few klickies about.

I think you should keep all of the wonderfull sets and to hell with your experiment

If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

Amazing finds!

I think the worse assembly box is actually 3666 - the stupid pic has the best part of the set - the round tower with a roof and the wind catcher - obscured and cut!

The pirate island is another - I never thought much of it, it was my sister that wanted it - and it's beautiful!
