Fire at the Mansion -- Part 3
« on: July 11, 2012, 02:26:09 »

Outside, a few more neighbors have heard the commotion and come outside, as firetrucks arrive.

The chief speaks briefly with Amy to find out how many are still inside and where they are.

As everyone is asked to stand back to make room for more response vehicles, more neighbors arrive on the scene.

Mrs. Oneil from a few doors down, who often trades babysitting with the Leonards, arrives and offers to take Sophie home with her.

Mrs. Leonard agrees it would be best, though it is difficult to let go of Sophie while she is still anxiously waiting to see her other two children come safely out of the house.

The neighbors talk her into sitting down, as the firefighters make their way into the burning house.

Two ladder crews head to the upper floors, one to the fourth floor to rescue Mary and Robert, and the other heads for the third floor window where Tommy was spotted.

Another hose crew prepares to enter through the front door.

Mary and Robert are helped over the balcony and down the ladder to safety.

Paramedics check them over and find they are completely ok. They hug Amy and watch and wait.

Meanwhile, Tommy is helped out of the window,

down the ladder,

and re-united with his mother.

As the paramedics take Tommy to the waiting ambulance to check him over, Amy hugs the fireman and thanks him for saving her little boy.

Moving furniture aside, the crew climbs through the window to find Mr. Leonard, who Tommy has told them is unconscious in the bedroom.

He is loaded onto a stretcher and evacuated.

The crew now heads to the next room in search of the little girl who is still trapped somewhere inside.

As they enter her bedroom, she is nowhere to be seen.

But these experienced men know exactly where to look for a scared five-year-old.

As Amy watches John leave in the ambulance, to be treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns, she suddenly hears Tommy cry out, “Addie!!!”

Everyone on the scene lets out joyful cries as they see the last missing family member being brought over to them, still holding tightly to her guinea pig.

In the end the house was a total loss. But somehow, that just didn’t seem to matter.

The Leonards were just happy to all be safe and sound. And all of their pets made it out safely, including Buddy, who started the entire incident but in the end played a role in saving their lives.

John had to spend some time in the hospital, with a collapsed lung. But the whole family is now reunited and staying with Mary and Robert while they rebuild their own house. They now feel that as terrifying as the whole experience was, the ordeal has brought them closer together as a family.

A great collaberation, good to see everyone made it out safely.

Very educational as well, It's the kind of story that can teach children (and adults) a lot about what to do in case of fire.  :)

Hopefully we will get to see the Leonards again sometimes under better circumstances?

These were my thoughts exactly.  The story was engaging and had important lessons to be shared.  I could see this as sparking quite a few discussions in a classroom situation.  Well done, Bonnie.

Thanks everyone! Glad you enjoyed it. :) I did intend it to show children what they should and should not do in case of fire, though Addie did make it out safely in spite of doing the wrong thing.

George, the lovely custom fire trucks are my husband's. Here is his thread about them: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=11118.0

We'll definitely see more of the Leonards, once their house is rebuilt!

Great work, and I also do like the text how to handle in case of real fire. Being a chemist I have my share in "firetrainings" and what you wrote has been told during these firetraining session too!! Love it.

So relieved they all made it out safe and sound Bonnie  :)
A great story and again lots of little details such as the dirty marks on the firefighters clothes and helmets made it realistic.  :wow: :wow: :wow:
Look forward to hearing about the Leonards' next adventures.
