S & B C R locos get names
« on: June 05, 2012, 19:45:39 »
I've been very busy with other things recently, but that doesn't mean nothing has been happening on the PM front.  On the train side, more rolling stock has been bought, some metal track has been acquired and next week I pick up a 4003 set.

The main development, however, has been the giving of names to the two RC steam locos.  One has been named Cromwell and the other Naseby.  In addition, Naseby has been renumbered.  The crystals used for controlling the locos match the background of the name plate, so Cromwell uses
the red crystal and Naseby the green one.

Here's Cromwell posed in the shunting yard:

and here's Naseby, first the name plate and then the new number plates:

The cost for the four name plates (2 of each name) and the four number plates (one each side of Naseby, one on the smoke box door and one on the rear of the coal bunker) was £30.  I got them from narrowplanet.com who I found very helpful and efficient.  Here's a link:

A very nicely turned out pair of loco's you have there, now slap me before I start thinking about getting into trains as well!  Like the name & number plates, they make such a difference, you're a man of many talents (and themes too!) :)

Excellent enhancements Gordon! Just subtle enough to look factory original, but unique at the same time! :wow:
Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!

Gordon, Nice job but why is the front number plate on upside down.
Is it for when it falls of the track you still know which one it is?

It's worse than that, Walter, look below!  I must have had the plates upside down and didn't realise - the numbers upside down read OK (well, apart from the 8 which isn't quite right).  Fortunately, I used two-pack epoxy to stick the plates on and so I've been able to prise them off without any damage to either the loco or the plates.  I use two-pack epoxy for this very reason - you can undo mistakes without damage.

Thank you for your kind comments, everyone.  Subtle I like, too, Bill and conniefrere.   But the real plaudits must go to narrowplanet who made the plates for me - all I did was stick them on (and stuck 3 of them on upside down!   :-[ )
