New arrival
« on: June 03, 2012, 02:33:50 »
This morning the Postman arrived with a big brown paper parcel, upon ripping the wrapping this was revealed

We got it off eBay for the princely sum of £20 plus postage, it was listed as "New in box with extras." The box has a little wear but we're not bothered about that, it's not destined to be part of a MISB collection. So, as we appear to be getting leaned on here

http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=11170.msg209114#new

we now have a fireboat  ;D   This is the start of the slippery slope  ::) who knows, before long we could be building the Calypso!  8}  :loco:  So far Mini-Chief is unaware of it's arrival, at the time she was at Nanny's house, I suppose this is where we should confess to being really terrible people, Mini-Chief still doesn't know that the hoses work!  :shhhh:  >:D Now it said "with extras" so this is what we discovered on opening the box

Not quite so much empty space in that box eh? The boat is pretty much untouched, all of the plastic bags are still sealed but hiding in there was also the helicopter, the inflatable boat and a deep sea diver so the first underwater klicky has arrived.

I think we'll be leaving this particular boat "as is" that's not to say that it wont be followed by other vessels of the same class that have undergone modifications but one of my ideas seems to have been shot down, until I actually saw the hull shape I was thinking about the possibilities of a stretched version, after all, we have plans to put several vehicles through "Kaptain Kuttenshutt's Kustom Bodyshop" so why not a boat, well that was the original thought anyway. The diver seems like he'll need a better method of entry to and exit from the water than trying to get over the side of an inflatable boat, so sooner or later Mini-Chief is going to need something like the 3941 Coastal Rescue Boat or the 4469 Expedition Ship with the shark cage from the 4500 set, probably with one side removed to allow a pair of divers to be lowered to the seabed and raised back to the boat in safety, it has to be better than having a rope fastened to the top of the helmet  ;)   So, we've started on the boats, just wondering how long we can keep it under wraps, Mini-Chief is bound to notice it soon. The helicopter needs crew and a stretcher and the inflatable boat needs crew and a trailer (and probably a second boat to accompany it) for Mercia Fire & Rescue's Water Rescue Unit, the 3128 boat will be joining the Fireboat Section, so, Mini-Chief's fleet has expanded again and is set to expand some more in the future. Already it's starting to snowball! Mini-Chief wants to do everything properly, so that means the inflatable boat will need a helmsman, 2 divers and a standby diver, and a second set for the other boat when we get it, and of course a custom trailer to carry them, I'm told that there are a couple of very keen canoeists on the Mercia Fire & Rescue books, so there might just be a couple of 5132 kayaks on the wanted list too, a couple of the 3776 Fast Water Canoe/7965 Kayak for waterborne snatch rescues would be nice too, see, it's getting out of hand already, I knew it would...........  ::)  8}

If you hear the sound of the bell which will tell you that Grigori has been killed, if it was your relations who have wrought my death, then no one in the family will remain alive. They will be killed by the Russian people. :prays:

Great acquisitions, Red Watch! Mini Chief will be quite impressed when she sees them!
  Forget about all of the other stuff,....all we need is the reintroduction of the 3526 Fire Engine!

I think I have the crew from this set somewhere:

They're yours if you want them.

Thanks folks  :)  :) Rasputin, a great aunt of mine once worked for Luis Marx and said occasionally they would put extras in boxes at the factory, especially in the run-up to Christmas, although if they were feeling particularly evil 2 or more jigsaws would go into the same box, not always all the same one either!  >:D  Mini-Chief still doesn't know it has arrived yet.  Playmofire, that would be fantastic, thanks! see your inbox
Glad you all liked it, the set will increase Mini-Chief's fleet again, I wonder what's coming next........
