Question Regarding the 5142 Fairy Tale Castle
« on: February 10, 2012, 15:23:19 »
I am trying to figure out the purpose of a certain part to this castle. http://store.playmobilusa.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-US-Site/en_US/Product-Detail?pid=5142&cgid=Maerchenschloss The one in question is the purple-pink box pictured just underneath the life size crown and jewelry. There is also a lid right next to it. The reason I am asking is that I need to do the part naming for this set for Heather, and I am trying to figure out the purpose of this box so it can be assigned a name. It also shown off to the left being fitted into a secret hiding place in the castle. Is this possibly meant to be a life-sized trinket box for the jewelry included in the set? Maybe the feature of fitting into the castle is just to hide it from annoying younger siblings? Any thoughts on this would be very much appreciated!

I have included the pics here:

I think your idea of it being a trinket box is right, Bonniebeth, as the gold tiara is also 'life size'. I think this sort of thing appeals to children (especially girls- my daughters like 'secret diaries' and stuff like that where they can hide things away- they love the domed roof of the dream castle PlaymoDB Set Inventory: 3019 - Dream Castle which has a secret door on the front!) and is yet another slick marketing idea from PM, aimed at wannabee princesses. They have done it before (the tiara at least) of course, on 4250.
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

Here you go bootgypsy... it all depends on mounting the white front part the right way round so the little handle shows (see picture 2)- we had it back to front for a while before we discovered it is designed to open! The same goes for the dome on 4250 (pic 3).
