Hi, nice to be here.
I posted a few times on Playmoboard and thought I would start on here also. I'm mainly a lurker, envious at your knowledge and collections of Playmo.
As a child I loved Playmobil, didn't really have much, some of the late 70's figures odds and ends, an Ambulance and the first Pirate Ship. The Pirate ship was just fantastic I remember, and I played with it for hours in every room and every inch of our garden. I picked up a few things in the remaining years but eventually moved on to other things. I had always wanted so many different sets including the Victorian theme, which looked amazing. However I knew it wasn't going to happen as I had lots of other interests that also costed money.
Anyway fast forward around 18 years and am now the very proud father of a four year old. About 2 years ago I was out looking for an advent calender for her. I came across the Playmo one, the one with the livingroom scene and although she was too young for it really, I thought it was something different to boring old chocolate.. So even though she was only 2 I bought it and each day throughout Dec we set it up. I began to realise what made me fall in love with Playmo as a child and saw that even at 2 she was quite happy to set the scenes up. (we obviously constantly suprvised her when she was with it and kept it out of her reach when not adding another piece!) and again even though she was to young, about a week after buying the calender I bought the playmo Circus off of eBay. For my daughter, for me? Anyway I set it up and under very strict supervision despite taking away all the small parts, she played with it. Then As she got older we bought her the Victorian Dolls House (from a Toy Shop that was clearing out stock) the Old Timer train and various other bits and pieces some new, some from eBay.
Our daughter clearly has the playmo bug like I had, only the difference is she has a father that has it also which means that her collection is starting to grow and grow. In truth I started just buying the circus for her, hence my name on here, then it went to the Victorian, then the farm, and now we are looking at the Magic sets and the castle for our king to live in. She is only 4 but literally spends hours playing, setting up scenes and doing all the voices.....sometimes with Daddy, sometimes on her own. Mommy is pleased she enjoys it, and that it keeps her quiet and its something that her and daddy enjoy together, but I do get bugged about "not more playmobil, don't you think you have enough now!!"
We have a the Dolls house permantly set up on a desk and two childs tables from Ikea that are together and have different themes on them that change. Each night I set everything up and arrange little stories around the house and other areas etc. Then each morning she wakes up, "shouts whats happening in the house today!?" and we go downstairs and before I go to work I talk her through the scene/stories. Of course it is always the "Playmobil Elves" that have set it all up. It's just great and I'm making the most of it because I know it won't be that long before she probably goes on to something else and I'm left to play on my own!
Anyway I've gone on enough, and for those of you still reading hope to chat with you sometime!
Michael.
