Mangusdogs Collection Journal
« on: January 15, 2012, 02:53:31 »
Well I had this grand master plan of taking wonderful pictures of all my (ahem my DD's) collection and posting them and so on and so forth.  Unfortunately/fortunately the collection is growing faster than I can take pics so I guess I'll just start with what I have and then go from there.  I do have some pics which I will share as I get them uploaded.

Oh the other problem is instead of wonderful pics, I ended up with sub-par pics, despite my taking at least 50 shots per session LOL.

So basically we started out buying a non-playmobil castle for my DD for her birthday (great deal, got it half-price when we bought the train table for her for Christmas - her birthday is in December).  Of course we had to populate the castle, and that is where our journey started (as you can see it's looking pretty empty):

So we started out with a few random (cheap  :P) knights.  None of which I got good pictures of yet myself:

4633 - Dragon Warrior Special            http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/4633.htm
4912 - Dragon Knights Duel                http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4912
5890 - Dragon Land Carrying Case      http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5890
5825 - Crusaders                                http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5825

After coming here and reading about customizing I decided to do a small change and swith 4633's face with the green guy from 5890 since it seems we have a sort of green=good  red=not so good thing going on.  I'll have to take a pic, maybe I should switch them back.

Anyway besides getting into the figures, which added the green knight and blue knight to our collection (which is all I was really going for at first).  I started buying Playmo when I saw it on sale.  So I bought

4887 - St. Nicholas and Angel             http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4887
4162 - Dinosaur Expedition                 http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4162

Both of which are un-opened so far

Then came my pirate catastrophe  :-\

I bought 5191(soldier's fort) http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5919 at Costco because I thought it was a pretty good price.  I wish I would have read the review on here first.  Not that it's not a nice little set but for $49 CD I don't really feel it was worth it for us.  I like the two pirate klickies, the soldiers are fine but I don't really have much use for them yet.  I do like a the accessories (the skeleton, the treasure chests and gold etc.) and I like the way the rocks make a sort of cove.  I'm wondering if I could use it to make a mermaid lagoon (think Peter Pan) but the fort itself wouldn't really go.  OK, now that I'm talking about it I fell a little better.

Then today, to add insult to injury, I bought 5869 (Red Corsair) http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5869 for half price at TRU because the box was damaged WITHOUT realizing (because I was excited to get any playmo at 1/2 price) that it comes with the EXACT two klickies as 5191.  WTH  :hmm:  .  Honestly I can't believe out of the only two sets I buy I got the EXACT same figures.  Blahhhh.  I haven't opened the box yet, I hope all the pieces are there.  At least there is an additional pirate that I don't have yet and the boat seems nice (on the box at least) though I don't really have a use for pirate ships yet.  Will update once I decide to open it.

PS please tell me if I'm not doing something right here.  These are my first posts on the forum (besides my intro) and I don't want to mess up LOL.

OK now for some pics.  I am addicted to the playmo mystery fi?ures.  I've pretty much got all the boy ones I want (the two knights) none of the rest are really worth the risk of ending up with more repeats (I have two pizza guys  :-\ which I have decided are brothers).  The girl figures though . . . It's so unlike me but I really like them best this go around.  So for figures I have:

Boys:

Blue Knight x1
Green Knight x1
Rock star x1
Pizza Guy x2
Boxer x1

Girls:

Bird Princess x2
Snow Queen x2
Cave Woman x1
Mermaid x2
Hoodie Girl x2
Witch x1

I still want the pink princess, the fairy, the and the highwaywoman (seriously what IS up with the dagger LOL).  Repeats don't bother me so much with the girls because I like them better for customization pieces.  They are easier to mix and match than the boys IMO.

For some reason I've really mostley taken pictures of the bird princess, but here they are.  And I'm sure I'm commiting some kind of blastphomy for combining playmobil with other toys but I couldn't help myself  :-[

Buying playmo fast indeed. The pic of the castle looks great. Furthermore your avatar and the princes.

Seems like you're having fun.

Unfortunately, playmobil does that ALL the time. I have NO idea why.

Wondered that myself.. the figure would be SOOOO much better without that stupid ridiculous drawing. :(

They seem to fit that castle welll.

LOVE the pic of the princess feeding the huge bird! :)

Great start. If you hang around here long enough, you will spiral out control with your wallet!
