Thanks for the expansion tips too. I'll have to track down some of those other pieces. Ebay does seem a bit sparse lately on mansion parts. I may have to save up and buy another piece. I did also think about getting the wedding pavillion as well for more pieces.
yeah, it's a bit of a challenge, even just to add floors of different widths between the two sets. I did try and create a front tower to change the floor plan as well, but I can tell a lot of cutting and sawing is in order. But then the question for me is where to put it all lol. One thing that's bugging me now is that the mansion is actually bigger than my expanded castle! So out of scale! I think my wife is not going to be happy about all the PM all over the house now (she's been out of town). I can't even hide this monstrosity of a mansion. She usually isn't that observant about my toys, but I think she'll notice the mansion has 2 extra stories in it, lol.
I'm trying also to remedy the 5301's floors... I still don't like the missing part that they moulded in on purpose so kids could have easier access to the rooms. Maybe I'll cover it with styrene or something.
